The Man Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, Winner of PDP Ondo State Governorship Primary

Eyitayo Jegede is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN. He was born to the family of the late Chief Johnson Bosede, the Odopetu of Isinkan, Akure, and Mrs C.O Jegede (née Asokeji) from Ipele town, near Owo in Ondo State, Nigeria.

He was a Former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Ondo state.

Eyitayo JEGEDE’s grandfather was Gabriel Jegede, a prominent trader during his lifetime. He was the Baba Egbe Onisowo Akure, a notable merchant in Akure dealing in Hardwares (heavy equipment, chains, firearms etc.), trading between and the coastal areas of (then) Western State.

A Very successful businessman by all standards with his vast residential estate in the heart of Akure township. Till date, the legacies of his age-long investment are still there for all to see.

Eyitayo Jegede is the fifth child among seven children of his family. The eldest is Mrs. Christianah Esho, a retired public servant now resident in United Kingdom; the second is Mrs. Mojisola Alex-Adedipe, a retired Nurse who was at some point also a Supervisory Councilor for Health in the Akure Local Government under Governor Adebayo Adefarati’s government.

Eyitayo Jegede started his primary education at St. Stephen’s “SA” Primary School Modakeke, Ile-Ife. From 5th of January 1973 to July 1978, he attended Aquinas College Akure for his Secondary Education.

While at Aquinas College, Eyitayo was a Senior Prefect. He was also very active in Sports. After his secondary education, he proceeded to Christ’s School, Ado Ekiti for his Higher School Certificate Education.

He was Volleyball Captain at both Aquinas College, Akure and Christ School, Ado Ekiti between 1978 and 1980.

Eyitayo had his bachelor’s degree in law at the University of Lagos between 1980 and 1983 where he captained the University Volleyball team.

He did his National Youth Service Corps, NYSC in Yola, Adamawa state, after completing his Higher Education, where he started his career as a legal practitioner.

Mr. Jegede qualified as a lawyer in 1984 after the One Year mandatory programme at the Nigeria Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos.

In the year 1992, he was appointed a Notary Public by the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

Within 10 years, he was promoted to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria. He specialises in handling political cases and election petition matters.

Eyitayo is an astute and experienced lawyer who has worked in the law firm of Murtala Aminu & Co. Yola. He established his law firm after 12 years of practice in the law firm. For 6 years , he was the Head of Chambers. His law firm which he set up in 1996 is known as Tayo Jegede & Co . The law firm has offices in Abuja and Yola. He later took his previous appointment as Chief Law Officer in Ondo State.

In May 2009, he was appointed the number one law officer of Ondo state, by the state governor as the Hon. Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.

Jegede has held various prestigious positions. He was SA former Chancellor of Anglican Communion of Jalingo, Taraba State. He was also once the Chancellor of Anglican Dioceses of Yola and a member of Implementation Committee of American University, Yola, Adamawa State, as well as a member, Chairman Board of Governors, ABTI Academy International School and member, Board of Trustees, Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo-State.

Eyitayo on Wednesday emerged the winner of PDP’s primary election for the second time in Ondo state

Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, is a family man with very high family values. He is married to Eno Jegede and both are blessed with children.
