#EndPoliceBrutality: Pan-African Youth Commissioner Urges IGP to Order the Release of Detained Protesters Across the Country Immediately

The ongoing peaceful protests across the country, has been described as an awakening for Nigerian youths in holding the government accountable for her actions especially policies and institutions that has a direct impact on youths and the growth of the country at large.

The Commissioner for Youth Political Participation, Pan-African Youth Union (PYU), Amb. Oladele John Nihi stated this while commending youths across the country for actions taken towards ensuring a permanent end to the continual assault of citizens, most especially youths, by men of the Nigerian Police Force.

Amb. Nihi also urged the Inspector General of Police to immediately order the release of protesters arrested during the #EndSARS protest who are currently held in different Police stations across the country. He stated that scrapping FSARS is not enough but also this should kick start a total reform of the Nigerian Police to better defend the life and livelihoods of the ordinary citizens of the country, without any form of favoritism or molestation.

Let me use this opportunity to condole with family and friends of those who lost their lives during this protest and also wishe those with various degrees of injuries receiving treatment across the country speedy recovery.

The unionism displayed by Nigerian youths should not end with the #EndSARS or #SARSMustEnd protests, but same energy should be channeled towards ensuring that youths takes over the affairs of this Nation comes 2023 general election.

We are working on a framework, which is to serve as a roadmap for youths to get actively involved in politics, and legally have a stand in the country’s corridor of power as it should be. This framework will not only change the country’s narrative, but give an equal opportunity to every youths to have a voice.

#SARSMustEnd is a movement of liberation, and we will not get tired until every last agenda is been achieved.

Kelvin Oluseyi Eleta
