Egbe Farmers Protest: Kogi Lawmaker Calls For Calm

The member representing Yagba West Constituency in Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Aderonke Aro has called for calm among farmers in his constituency who recently protested the destruction of their farmlands by Fulani herdsmen.

Hundreds of farmers in Egbe Community of Kogi State had on Monday took to the street in protest against the incessant destruction of their crops and farmlands by Fulani herdsmen.

Hon. Aro in a statement made available to Newsmen in Lokoja sympathized with the farmers over the level of destruction to their farms, describing it as unfortunate.

The Lawmaker in his word said “My mind is with our farmers who’s farmer lands have been destroyed by herders men. This is very unfortunate and i sympathize with our farmers over this unfortunate destruction.”

According to him, the incident is coming at a time that Nigeria is coming out of effect of Covid-19 Pandemic that ravaged every economy of the world.

He explained that farming is the main stay of the people of Yagba West, saying the destruction of the farms has brought set back to agriculture in the Local Government.

Hon. Aro said the matter has been reported to appropriate authorities for urgent attention towards bringing a lasting solution to the problem.

The Lawmaker stated that Governor Yahaya Bello is on top of the situation, pointing out that the matter will soon be addressed.

He appealed to the protesters not to put laws into their hands, saying the peace of the Local government is paramount.
