79 widows benefit from Hon.Kilani empowerment scheme
In fulfillment of his campaign promise of making the welfare of his constituents a top most priority, the member representing Ijumu Constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon.Olusola Kilani Olumo has empowered 79 widows one each at all polling units of the constituency.
The widows who were selected across polling units of Ijumu Constituency were each given five thousand naira .
Equally,the lawmaker presented three grinding machines to women one each selected from the three districts of the local government area.
Presenting the cash gifts and the grinding machines to the beneficiaries at Iyara,the Headquarters of Ijumu Local Government Area,Hon Kilani disclosed that the empowerment scheme is the first phase of his plans to to ameliorate the sufferings of his constituents and fulfillment of his campaign promise.
According to him,he has decided to start with the widows because of their vulnerability and his believe in their roles as mothers of the nation.
Hon.Kilani revealed that other segments such as education,youth acquisition skills and drilling of boreholes across the Local government areas are some of his priority and advised those who are yet to benefit to be patient as necessary efforts are in place to actualise his lofty program. The Honourable member also used the opportunity to off set the annual rent of the LG party Secretariat.
Hon.Kilani who is equally the Kogi State House of Assembly standing Committee Chairman on Education, Science and Technology reiterated his promise to work in synergy with relevant authority and stakeholders in education sector to ensure that the lost glory of education is restored in the area.
While appealing to the people of the area to be law abiding and shun any act that will tarnish the image of the area he commended them for the existing peace in the area and charged them to sustain it.
Hon.Kilani thanked the people of the area for their support and charged them to always pray and support the administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
The event was witnessed by former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon Sunday Tolorunleke ,All Progressives Congress( APC) executive members and part stalwarts.
Meanwhile, accolades have been pouring in for Hon.Kilani on his maiden empowerment scheme.
In his comment,a former Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area,Chief Fehinti Dada commended the lawmaker for his efforts at bringing succour to the widows and indigent people of the area and called on the people of the area to be patient with him
Prince Dayo Akanmode ,a former Vice Chairman of Ijumu Local Government stated that in his various interactions with lawmaker has revealed his desire to justify the mandate of the people by ensuring that dividends of democracy are delivered to them.
Hon.Akanmode,a former National Secretary of Ijumu Development Union (IDU) commended the lawmaker and described it as a good initiative and called for the support and prayers for the lawmaker.
