*Kogi Assembly Tasks State Own Tertiary Institutions on Academic Excellence*

Kogi State House of Assembly has charged Management and Staff of the State own Tertiary Institutions to intensify effort to make their respective schools the best in the country.

The Chairman, House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Olusola Kilani Olumo gave the charge when he led other members on an oversight visit to State own institutions in Kogi East.


The Visit is to get first hand information on the happenings in the Schools with a view to partnering with them for optimum performance.

Hon. Olumo while speaking at the Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba charged the management to work tirelessly for the restoration of the lost glory of the institution.

The Chairman who described the appointment of the acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Marietu Tenuche as well deserved and urged other management staff to cooperate with her to move the School to the next level of development and academic excellence.

According to him, the State House of Assembly wants the University to be one of the best world, assuring of the support of the legislature.

He commended Governor Yahaya Bello for his effort in developing the education sector and called for more.
In their remarks, the members representing Adavi constituency, Ibrahim Usman and Paul Enema of Dekina Okura charged leadership of the University to be more proactive to issues of cultism.

Also Speaking, the member representing Igalamela/Odolu Constituency, Mr. Barrister Cosmo Atabor noted that budget implementation report must be presented to the House by Ministries, Departments and Agencies for the next appropriation bill.

Responding, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Marietu Tenuche commended the Committees for the visit and promised to do her best to make the school one of the leading universities in Nigeria.

Professor Tenuche explained that the Institution is currently engaging its students on e-learning, adding that management is also considering e-examination in case the school closure persist.

The Committee also visited Kogi State College of Education Ankpa and the State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Idah.
