The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Aliyu Umar Yusuf, on Thursday, received new entrants into the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, from Ward D in Lokoja Local Government Area of the state.
They were led on the visit by the Local Government Chairman of the APC, Hon Bature Maikudi and his Ward ‘D’ counterpart.
Also present at the meeting was the immediate past Financial Secretary of the PDP in Lokoja Local Government, the Ward ‘D’ Youth Leader and other critical leaders of the opposition party who have defected into the ruling party.
Rt Honourable Aliyu Umar Yusuf enjoined them to work for the victory of their new party during next month’s poll.
In the same vein, the Speaker also received the 1998 set of Students of Lokoja Local Government Secondary School, Kabawa, who came to felicitate him on his emergence as the Speaker of the state House of Assembly and restated their commitment towards working for the victory of the APC next month.
On Thursday, the Speaker also received members of the Ohono traditional community who were in his presence to felicitate him on his position and thanked him for all that he has been doing for the development of the state, particularly in communities that make up Lokoja Local Government Area.
