In yet another step to broker lasting peace between herders and famers, the Caretaker Chairman of Mopamuro LGA Hon. Ademola Bello Destiny summon another peace and security meeting at the council secretariat between farmers and Fulani/ myetti Allah groups in order to put a final stop on destruction of farmlands in mopamuro LGA.
The Chairman expressed displeasure on how herders destroy people’s farms in the course of tending to their animals in the Local Government Area. He affirmed his readiness to combat such barbaric attitude noting that food scarcity is becoming a trending phenomenon in the Country which is partly one of the effects of such action.
While addressing the group, He gave a stern warning to the Fulani/Miyetti Allah groups in the area to ensure that their cows graze in the right places and at the right time. Futher attempt to destroy people farmlands will attract severe punishment under the law because nobody will be happy to see his farm produce destroy after months of hard labour and monetary commitment, the Chairman stated.
The council boss informed and advised the Fulani myetti Allah groups to embark on irrigation farming, cultivate their own farm for animals consumption or purchase farmlands from farmers for their cows to be properly fed instead of intentional destruction of people’s farms.
It is my pleasure that we have you people around us because in one way or the other, there is often a mutual benefit between us but that does not guarantee the fundamental rights of our people to be trampled upon all in the name of grazing, the Chairman added.
However, the Fulani myetti Allah groups on their part pledged their unalloyed loyalty and support to the Chairman and promised to abide with the layed down rules and regulations by ensuring proper monitoring of their cows.
In a unanimous agreement, they both agreed on a security synergy to make the make administration of Hon. Destiny a hitched-free one.
