29th Anniversary: Kogi Speaker Felicitates with Governor Bello, Kogites
Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Prince Matthew Kolawole wishes to felicitate with and congratulate His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, Executive Governor of Kogi State and the entire people of the State on the celebration of the 29th anniversary of the creation of Kogi State.
Rt. Hon. Kolawole said it is noteworthy for Kogites to look back and remember this day in 1991 when the then Military President, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida in a nationwide broadcast announced the creation of the Confluence State.
He said generations yet unborn will continue to be grateful to the founding fathers who thought it wise to canvass for a state called Kogi, stressing that it is now time for all and sundry to work together for the overall interest of the state irrespective of their tribe, religion and political affiliations to actualize the dreams of the initiators of the Kogi project.
He paid tribute to all who at one time or the other had the opportunity of contributing to the development of the State, pointing out that the State has the potential to be one of the best in the country considering the untapped huge natural resources in the state.
He commended the New Direction administration led by Governor Yahaya Bello for his foresight and laudable vision to put the State on the pedestal of progress via his deliberate policies and programmes which will enhance the overall development of the state.
He noted with nostalgia the tremendous efforts of the administration to rewrite the wrongs of the past, noting that the legislative arm under the current dispensation has enjoyed cordial working relationship with other arms of government which created the enabling environment to have passed numbers of bills into law among which is the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, Kogi State, Reference Hospital, Okene, Magistrate Court and Education law etc.
He said despite the effect of Covid-19 on the world today, the 7th assembly under his watch has continued to prioritize their activities to render adequate service delivery via prompt action on motions and bills being passed for the progressive and good governance of the state.
It is on this note, Rt. Hon. Prince Matthew Kolawole on behalf of his family, the people of Kabba/Bunu State Constituency, entire members of the 7th assembly, management and staff of the Kogi State House of Assembly and All Progressive Congress, (APC) in Kogi West Senatorial District wish to felicitate with, and congratulate Governor Yahaya Bello and Kogites for the celebration of the 29th Anniversary of the creation of Kogi State.
