A Bill to amend the kogi state Legislative Funds Management law has been passed into law by the State Assembly.
The bill which was considered at the committee of the whole provides for the assembly to manage it’s funds on capital and recurrent expenditures.
It also provides for the constitution of a fund management committee to manage the assembly allocation as well as spell out the approval limits of the speaker and clark of the assembly.
In the meantime a petition against Me Funsho Olorunfemi, a member of the kogi state independent electoral commission, has been brought before the kogi state house of assembly.
Chairman House Committee on Public Petition and Human Rights, Suleiman Atajachi who read the petition at plenary said that the individual was alleged to be partisan as he attended political meetings.
He also said that the person in question was also a card carrying member of the All Progressives Congress noting that his affiliation with the party negates the principles of neutrality.
The speaker, Prince Mathew Kolawole in his ruling referred the petition to the joint house committees on judiciary, protocol and justice and that of public petition and Human Rights, to investigate and report back to the house in two weeks.
