A CASE FOR YOUTHFUL TAKEOVER

The clamour for youthful participation and takeover of our political spheres is only right, just and timely.

Why shouldn’t we?

In the last dispensation, we made up an average of 51% of the electorates across the nation while hustling to cede power to people in their retirement age.

Let me reiterate.

Fathers who were supposed to retire from active duty, (70+-year-olds) depended on us (18-35-year-olds) to get the ‘seats of leadership’ to rule over us.

Fishy!

Erstwhile, I would argue that grace rather than age was the yardstick for effective leadership. This idea may still hold in some climes, but the recent ineptitude from the non-performing aged leaders in Nigeria have proven otherwise. Whenever their maladroitness is questioned, ‘old age’ is usually among the first excuses they tender.

Youths, it’s time to wake up and occupy all. When we lead, we won’t complain of age.

Timi is coming!
