Abarebe’s Outbost Against Governor Bello: Kogi Assembly Demands Apology, Threatens Legal Action
Kogi State House of Assembly on Tuesday demanded an unreserved apology from the Senator representing Abia South, Enyinnaya Abarebe over his comment on Governor Yahaya Bello on the floor of the Senate.
Senator Abarebe had berated Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello on the floor of the Senate in a video during Plenary of the Senate.
The call followed a motion of urgent public importance moved by the Majority Leader, Abdullahi Bello on resumption of plenary after annual recess of the House.
The Majority Leader described the attack on the Governor as an attack on the Nigerian Youths particularly those in Kogi State and warned the Senator to trend with caution.
According to him, the emergence of Governor Bello in 2016 was divine, saying his reelection was as a result of his proven capacity in the area of security and infrastructure Development.
He said the Governor represents Kogi as well as youths in the country, saying any attempt to smear his reputation from any quarters will be resisted.
Seconding the Motion, the member representing Igalamela Odolu, Cosmos Atabor maintained that all claims by the Abia Senator are based on lies as the achievements of Governor Yahaya Bello since assumption of office are unmatchable.
Other members, Chief Muktar Bajeh of Okehi and
Olusola Kilani of Ijumu constituency in their Contributions commended the Majority Leader for moving the motion and described the governor as a pride to the young generation.
The Speaker, Prince Matthew Kolawole in his ruling said legal action will be taken should the Senator refuse to apologise to the Government and people of Kogi State for his unguided comments.
Prince Kolawole noted that the State Governor is a Salient Achiever and advised electorates in the country especially Abia South to vote people of good character into power.
