*Adabenege Adams harps on judicious human resource management*
In view of the strategic roles of Local Government Administration in national development, Chairman of Kogi State Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Adabenege Adams has called for strick and judicious human resource management of Local Government staff in Nigeria.
Hon. Adams made this known yesterday in Lokoja in a two-day workshop titled “Understanding and Interpreting the Local Government Service Staff Regulations 2010″ organized by the commission for the newly appointed Directors of Personnel Management of the 21 Local Government Councils of the state.
The Local Government Service Commission boss used the opportunity to sincerely commend Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for giving priority attention to Kogi State Local Government administration, stressing that the third tier of the government is the foundational to meaningful national development.
”My special appreciation goes to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for giving the consideration to reinvigorate the office of Director of Personnel Management in all the 21 Local Government of Kogi State. It is evidently clear that his Excellency’s quest for excellence and good governance cannot be over emphasized.
“Over the years, manpower being the most strategic and potent resource in any organization has not received the desired professional management for the realization of government objectives towards national development”, he said.
Hon. Adams reminisced with nostalgia that over the years, manpower being the most strategic and potent resource in any organization has not received the desired professional management for the realization of government’s objectives towards national development, adding that no Local Government Area can be effective and efficient if it underrates the critical role the personnel staff in achieving, planning, organising and implementing government’s policies.
While expressing optimism that Governor Yahaya Bello has the required competence to replicate such efforts at the national level if given opportunity. Hon. Adams charged all participants at the workshop especially the newly appointed Directors of Personnel Management of the Local Government Councils strictly abide by the ethics of Civil Service in a their local government areas.
