The Executive Chairman of Ajaokuta Local Government, Hon. Mustapha Aliyu Aka’aba has charged members of the Nigeria Legion of Ex-Servicemen to assist the government in checking and reducing crime in the area.
Hon. Mustapha Aka’aba gave the charge while addressing the Legion members during the celebration of year 2022 Armed Force Remembrance Day.
He reminded them not to hesitate to report any threat to peace and security to the Government and Security Agents in their areas for the maintenance and sustenance of peaceful society.
The Council Boss said the supreme sacrifice paid by gallant armed officers need to be accorded respect for preserving the Unity of Nigeria inspite our diversities.
He urged the Legionnaires to give unalloyed support to the Government of Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello Administration New Direction to better the lots of the people of the State.
Hon. Mustapha Aka’aba restated his administration readiness to continue to accord respect and entitlements to make the legion function effectively in Ajaokuta LGA.
The Council Chairman whose address was delivered at the occasion by the Head of Department, Education and Social Services, Mall. Obeito .S. Hassan, reminded the people of the Local Government of their parental responsibilities worthy of emulation.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman, Nigeria Legion of Ex-Servicemen in Ajaokuta LGA, CPI Emmanuel Oga Irikiti (Rtd), commended the Council Chairman for his developmental strides and declared the Legionnaires support to the government security efforts to secure Nigeria by all levels of government from Federal, State to Local.
He said that Armed Forces Remembrance Day was set aside to honour the members who fought in the First, Second World Wars and Nigeria Civil War.
CPI Emmanuel Irikiti paid growing tribute to the fallen heroes and three members of Legion that died in the area in 2021 and assured the Legion’s readiness to partner with the government for the peace of the Local Government.
