ALHAJI SANUSI ABUBAKAR – A PERSONIFIED PHILANTHROPIST

After about thirty years of service to God and humanity, through Asmau Foundation, an NGO, Alhaji Sanusi Abubakar, a business magnet, colossal community developer and public commentator, still seeks greater opportunity to serve his people more, that led him to venture into partisan politics and eventually contested Kogi state governorship primary of APC in 2015.
Alhaji Gamji, as popularly called by his deeming admirers, is one singular individual in private business sector whom many in Kogi state and Nigeria at large, excerpt as a shinning example of a modern day philanthropist, that is, on the account of many things he has been doing to touch lives under the auspices of Asmau Foundation which he inaugurated in memory of his Late lovely mother, of his milk of human kindness to promote better living for the people as a gateway for better living and community development. The NGO believes also that development, both human and infrastructure, is not the exclusive preserve of the government, therefore, the organization believes that well-meaning and endowed individuals should always support the efforts of the government within their available and blessed resources in order to fast-track development.
In line with that belief, the Foundation has been contributing their quota towards the wellbeing of the people and less-privileged in Ebiraland and Kogi state in general. This has been amply demonstrated in many instances and ways. The Foundation has set standard in health sector by donating equipment worth millions of Naira to hospitals and health centres in Ebiraland. The Foundation, in recent times, has been sponsoring health programmes, for free medication to the rural community in the area. He has been taking medical team of consultants to Ebiraland and Kogi State in general, for eye treatment through “Asmau Foundation” activities. He feels fulfilled and happy that his people, ordinarily wouldn’t have been privileged for such treatment but now making good use of their sights after treatment. He believes that frustrations often leading to crises could be minimized if we continue to bring little from our resources to share with the less-privileged in the society.
In a very recent past, Alhaji Sanusi Abubakar, single-handedly initiated and executed the rehabilitation of the General Hospital Okene, including the staff quarters and provided free beddings, to reduce patients burdens and improved the personnel working productivity. He also built a new maternity wards in the Hospital and brought Lagos University Teaching Hospital experts who constructed a modern mortuary to complete facilities expected of a standard hospital in Okene General Hospital. In the recent past also, Alhaji Sanusi through the Foundation, donated multi-million equipment to Specialist Hospital Obangede, which was commissioned by the former Kogi State governor, His Excellency Capt. Idris Ichalla Wada. The historic event was also graced by many personalities which includes political stalwarts, captains of industry, friends from within and Diaspora.
In the area of education, the Foundation, under the watchful of Alhaji Sanusi Abubakar, has also made huge impact to be felt by students of the less-privileged. The Foundation has a conventional scholarship scheme that catered for the less-privileged in Ebiraland and beyond, from primary to tertiary level.
As part of the Foundation contributions to the wellbeing of the people and gingering the economic activities in Ebiraland and beyond, Alhaji Sanusi, in his usual milestone human development, in order to make women more productive and economically viable, provided financial assistance to them, not only to boast their businesses but also to ease their economic burdens.
As a highly industrious strategist, he does not believe in failure, rather he easily identifies potentials and supports its development for societal gains. He is never squeamish, daring all obstacles especially when the cause is really worth fighting for his people. This young man has not derailed in fighting the titanic battles, trudges on, invest and relishing with exciting the future of his people. This is why one and people of Ebiraland and Kogi state in general, cannot but lining him for better future political assignment, as they believe that political responsibility could be a good attraction with his sterling quality as a young man, a seasoned democrat, a philanthropist personified and a role model. The people also believe that democracy grow stronger when leadership are entrusted in the hands of politicians who have compassion for humanity and could use the position to better the life of the people he or she represents.
Alhaji Sanusi, who was born into Muslim home, is highly interested in religious harmony and has always render services that unite both Christians and Muslims without any iota of discrimination.
There is no doubt that with his track record of community and human development, he remains a torch bearer in a dark world. As a well-focused businessman, he rarely gets distracted as he pursues all objectives meticulously without minding all manners of discouragement and hurdles on the way, seeing them as sacrifices on the journey to the Goshen Territory.
On his guiding principles in life, Alhaji Sanusi Abubakar believe that; “to leave this life better than he met it and to also use this God-given resources to help the course of humanity, that until he was able to touch or impact positively on the lives of others, there is no fulfilment in ones journey”. There is no doubt that history is waiting for the likes of Alhaji Sanusi, who can hold on to their dreams, a man who is trustworthy, reliable and democrat, who is extremely in love with his fatherland.
Alhaji Sanusi, a self-made man, was born to the Late astute politician and a famous community leader in Ebiraland, Adayi, Late Alhai Abubakar (Inihaya) Onuvajo and Hajiya Asmau Abubakar, [all of Blessed Memory]. May their gentle souls rest in perfect peace, Ameen.
