Child labour/human trafficking: Kwara NSCDC to partner CSOs

Kwara state Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has stated that it is ready to partner with relevant organisations and individuals in order to find permanent solution to child labour, human trafficking and other migration related issues in the country.
The State Commandant of the NSCDC Iskilu Ayinla Makinde made the pledge on Friday while playing host to the executive members of a non governmental organisation, Civil Society on Migration and Development, Kwara State chapter who were on a courtesy visit to the NSCDC state headquarters in Ilorin.
A statement by the spokesman of the NSCDC in the State Babawale Zaid Afolabi said: “The civil society organisations were at the NSCDC state headquarters to seek the corps supports in terms of capacity building, training and retraining, sharing of knowledge and intelligence and information gathering.”
In his remarks, the Commandant was said to have frowned at the apathy and reluctance of the populace to share valuable intelligence information that can aid the work of the security operatives, adding that people are always unwilling to give out information.
The Commandant used the occasion to announce the efforts of the NSCDC to ensure that the corps has more divisional offices across all the 16 local governments areas of the State, adding that at present NSCDC has more than 27 divisional offices in the state.
Makinde added that the Command is planning is to make sure that NSCDC has an outpost/office at every three kilometers across the State.
Earlier, the state Coordinator of the organisation, Bashiru Kehinde, had sought better and result oriented working relationship between them and the NSCDC, adding that their organisation and the Corps could achieve much in terms of training and sharing of intelligence information as they have better access to the people than the security agencies.
