
Facelift of Lokoja: Maigari of Lokoja Commends Gov. Bello, Says It’s a Dream Come True
The Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Mohammed Kabiru Maikarfi 111, has Commended Gov. Yahaya Bello in his desired efforts to give the State Capital a new facelift through the construction of the Intercity roads.
The Royal Father gave the commendation when the Kogi State Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Abubakar Ohere paid him a visit to intimate him of the ongoing construction work by the State Government in the metropolis.
The Traditional Ruler described the facelift as one that would write the name of the present administration in gold, described the roads as one that has been left abandoned for long.
While expressing happiness that despite the long neglect of the roads, the Royal Father thanked Gov. Yahaya Bello for making the roads a dream come true and to happen in his time.
Speaking earlier, the Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Abubakar Ohere, told the Traditional Ruler that Gov. Yahaya has chosen to turn Lokoja into a construction site from now till the end of his administration.
Engr. Ohere explained that the administration has began an ultramodern interchange at Ganaja Junction, said the aim is to decongesting traffic and alleviate the sufferings faced by the people.
He added that aside adding to the aesthetic value of the city, the interchange and roads he pointed out will boost the socioeconomic activities of the State, described Gov. Yahaya Bello as one who has done a lot, and whose love for the State remains unprecedented.
While noting that with the massive nature of the road work that would begin in the city capital, the Commissioner explained that the road would be embarked upon in the ratio of 70% to 30% so as not to shut down activities and hamper the movement of people.
The Road Construction he added would be handled by TEC Engineering Construction Company, said it will begin from Nataco Junction, up to Paparanda Square with a befitting overlay.
The Road he added will include the grading and smoothing work from the Saduana Junction, Bishop Delisle, through Kasuwa, Dunamis Junction up to Adankolo, said it will also cover Cemetery and Kewon Hotels Roads.
The Commissioner assured the Traditional Ruler of the present administration’s determination to make the state capital befitting, described Gov. Yahaya Bello as a man whose eyes is constantly on the ball, committed to the well being of the people and is committed to meeting the yearning and aspirations of the people.
Also Speaking, the Chief Engr. of TEC Engineering, Bing Jin, assured and promised that the company would deliver good, quality work within the shortest possible time.
As part of the desire of Governor Yahaya Bello to turn Lokoja, Kogi State capital to a modern and befitting State capital, The Honorable Commissioner for Works and Housing Engr. Abubuka Ohere has led a team of Construction engineers to commence construction of internal Roads within Lokoja metropolis.

Engineer Ohere said that the State capital would be turned into construction site for the rest period of the Governor’s administration, “we have Commenced this intervention since yesterday, an untramodarn interchange will be situated at ganaja junction that would take away alot of traffic congestion, and we hope this will also improve the esthetic value of the town apart from the economy value that would come with it. Then while doing this, most of the internal Roads in Lokoja where also selected for intervention. we would have done everything together at once because of the desire of his Excellency to impact in Lokoja and make it a befitting State capital but we can’t short down everywhere. We need to do part in part and we are starting with Nataco junction, never mind that it’s a federal Road.
His Excellency has deemed it fit to create an impact there although at paparanda junction we are going to give the selected roads befitting overly to enhance free movement of the inhabitants of Lokoja” he said.
He also noted that he is at the Palace of the Royal Father His Royal Highness Alh. Mohammadaded Kabiru Mekarfi, the Maigeri of Lokoja to pay Homage to him and get His Royal blessings before commencing the construction of the Roads within his domain.
In his remarks the leader of the Construction company Tech engineering, Engr Bing promised to deliver good quality work according to specifications to make the Lokoja Roads better for the metropolitan.
The Royal Highness in his closing remark thanked His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello for giving prompt attention to the plight of the people of the State, he also used the opportunity to pledge his support to the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello.
