*FAWWASS Hail Governor Yahaya Bello’s Passion for Gender Equity, Calls on Women Nationwide to Key into Gyb2Pyb Project*
The President of FairWin Women Advancement Association (FAWWASS), Hajia Bilikisu Onumoko has hailed Governor Yahaya Bello for placing women in important positions in the state, calling on women in Nigeria to join Gyb2Pyb project.
Hajia Bilikisu made the statement when Mainbrainzize Int’l Concepts and Anamuohuto Multimedia visited the group in GRA, Okene.
According to her, Governor Bello has changed the narratives of what it use to be in the past and has made women to embrace politics beyond the jamboree associated with their presence, which is usually singing, clapping and dancing at political functions.
“Our Governor Alh. Yahaya Bello has done more than enough for the women in Kogi state. It is obvious from inception that gender inclusion is a cardinal principle of Governor Bello’s administration. This is a Governor that pledged the readiness of his administration to increase the participation of women in the affairs of the state and today he’s fulfilling that promise”.
Hajia Bilikisu while answering questions from the media Outfits revealed that FAWWASS is a registered grassroot based social-political group of progressive women in Kogi Central Senatorial District. The members cuts accross the five local government areas. The group was founded by the Treasurer of Okene Local Government Area, Hajia Habibat Onumoko and the group has been enjoying supports from Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Ohere, the Honourable Commissioner for Works and Housing, who is the Patron of the group.
Responding to another question from the media Outfits, Hajia Bilikisu said;
“Part of what we do here apart from political activities is to empower our women. Some of our members are students of high institution within and outside Kogi state. We also pay WAEC fees of the children of our members. We encourage women to go to school. We want our women to be productive”.
“We ensure our women here acquire skills and we empower them after the training with tools. Some of them you see here are experts in bag making, catering and tailoring”.
Speaking on the membership criteria, Hajia Bilikisu said to become a member of the association, you must first be a woman with permanent voter card (PVC). If you don’t have PVC, how can you convince other women to get what you don’t have, she added.
Secondly and ultimately, your husband must give the approval of your membership.
The media Outfits in their remarks said they were also present during Hajia Habibat Onumoko’s birthday and were fascinated by the quality of her philanthropy.
They promised to always support the group and other support groups of the present administration, and encouraged members of FAWWASS to continue their good works.
