Funfare as Lokoja Branch of Iyara Development Association Celebrates 2021 Get-together
It was Funfare and Celebration galore as Iyara Development Association (IDA) Lokoja Branch celebrated her annual get-together amidst recognition of outstanding members.
IDA is the socio-cultural body of the Iyara people in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
For the very first time, the National President of the Association, Alhaji Aliyu Badaki who was the Special Guest of Honour was on ground to give colour to the occasion described as first of its kind.
Speaking at the occasion, the National President expressed satisfaction with the turn out of members for the get-together, stressing the need for them attract more indigenes of the Community to the Association.
Alhaji Aliyu explained that the season of rumour mongering is over as members must come together with unity of purpose for the overall development of the Community.
He advised the branch to take the leading role in the scheme of things of the Community by showing more concern to the growth of Iyara land which according to him is one of the underdeveloped Local Government headquarters in Nigeria.
The President identified insecurity as the major challenge of the Community, saying Zango is a Security Threat to Iyara, Ijumu and Okun land if the white paper on the place is not implemented.
While calling for the implementation of the white paper of the Zango and prayers for the Community, Alhaji Aliyu Badaki said efforts are in top gear towards righting the wrong in the community especially the upgrading of the stool of Eleta Oluyara of Iyara.
He expressed appreciation to the Branch for her support to the National Executives, assuring that he will do his best to justify the confidence reposed in him.
Earlier, the branch Chairman, Mr. Dayo Olayemi maintained that the aimed of the occasion was to celebrate the protection of God from the beginning of the year.
Mr Olayemi who used the opportunity to present an award of excellence to some distinguished members, emphasized the need for an increase in the attendance of members next year.
