A road safety expert, communicator and administrator
Deputy Corps Marshal Samuel Adedoyin Obayemi (rtd) is one of the illustrious sons of Ogori who through dint of hard work and dedication rose to one of the topmost positions of his chosen career. He is a fine corps marshal officer and a complete gentleman.
He was born in Kaduna, Kaduna State, Nigeria on 6th October, 1960 to a family that is known for selflessness and honesty.
He attended Bishop Smith Primary School, Ilorin where he earned his First School Leaving Certificate in 1971 and in 1972 he proceeded to one of the most prestigious secondary schools in Northern Nigeria, Abdul Aziz Atta Memorial College, Okene and later completed his secondary school education at Cherubim and Seraphim College, Ilorin in 1977. He had his ‘A’ level education at the Kwara State College of Technology, Ilorin (now Kwara State Polytechnic). Young Samuel was offered admission to the premier university in Nigeria, the University of Ibadan in 1981 and graduated in 1984 with Bachelor degree in Arts (Hons.) Linguistics. He equally holds master degree in Transport Management. He had his National Youth Service scheme at Okeluse Anglican Grammar School in Ondo State between 1984 and 1985.
DCM Samuel Obayemi once worked as a teacher at Government High School, Ilorin; Offa Grammar School, Offa before joining the Federal Road Safety Corps in August 1990. He attended several trainings, workshops and conferences with the desire to hone on his new job. He was at Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Commanders Basic Course, Lagos in 1990; FRSC Commanders Refreshers’ Course, Lagos 1992; Weapon training for Officers Cadre in Enugu, Seminar on Discipline and administration of Justice in FRSC in Jos; Computer training for Executive Officers, Oshogbo, Special Marshals Zonal Conference, Warri 2005; National Road Accident Prevention Congress, Abuja 2006; Corps Marshal’s Conference, Lokoja 2006; Road safety Management in Africa Vision 2020, 2008 amongst several others. All these courses and training propelled him for leadership role in the Federal Road Safety Corps as a federal government agency.
Obayemi as a young officer at FRSC in 1990 – 1991, was appointed as the Public Enlightenment Officer FRSC RSI, Abuja and through hard work Obayemi rose to the position of Deputy Corps Marshal and he was decorated by Governor Samuel Lanlong of Plateau State on the 6th July, 2020. Within his thirty years of meritorious service in the Federal Road Safety Corps, he served in different posts and commands. He was at FRSC, RS7HQ, Yola; in 1993 – 1995; served as acting Zonal Commanding officer FRSC RS10HQ, Ilorin 1995 – 1996; Deputy Camp Commandant FRSC Training Camp Iseyin 1996. He also worked in Benin, Sokoto, Bauchi, Kaduna, Abuja, Enugu and Lagos, in all these places he made his marks.

DCM Samuel Obayemi has won a number of awards and accolades from private organizations and corporate bodies. He is the recipient of the following awards: Award of Excellence by the Nigerian Union of Journalists in 1996, Award of Outstanding Support by Financial Studies Students Association, Federal Polytechnic Ede 1997, award of Action Team Prayer band Fellowship, Benin, 2006 amongst others.
Obayemi’s name has become a household name in Ogori, his hometown because he has impacted positively on the lives of many youths in the community, many of the youths got employed through the influence of DCM Samuel Adedoyin Obafemi to the FRSC and other sister agencies. Many individuals from the community have benefited from his largesse and he has promised to continue to touch human lives through his financial support to noble courses. He is kind, accessible and God fearing individual.
