His Grace as part of his episcopal visit to oworo missionary Arcdeaconry lay hands on 51 newly confirmed members consisting of ten males and 41 females into Diocese as confirmed members. He observed that to be confirmed the member must have being baptized . Earlier in the morning he prayed for the on going building of educational institutions project embacked by the church.
He observed that from the very foundation of Anglican communion the establishment of educational institution for members to learn and upgrade their status was key in the heart of the church. It has been able to establish schools some of which were taken over by government but today effort are made to return back the schools to their owners. He prayed God will strengthen the church to complete this golden project. He admonished members to note that such schools are not meant to generate revenue but to evangelize the gospel. The schools are expected to teach the students the Bible, liturgical principles and common hymns to the glory of God. In his sermon he admonished the newly confirmed members to uphold to the vows of their baptism, confirmation ethics and ensure they preach the gospels to outermost part of the world. It is a call for services and not merely ceremonial laying of hands. His Grace also lay hands on newly inducted mother unions members of the church. About eleven (11) were enrolled into the mothers unions. The guiding rules of mother union was read out and he then seek their compliance. They affirm their willingness to abide with the rules of mothers union and serve God in that capacity. They were all admitted to mothers union and issued the card of membership.
His Grace also lays hand and admit new Women Guild member.About 14 new members were admitted as members to Diocesan Women Guild. The rules ofWomen Guild was read out which the new admitted members affirm their commitment.He observe that some of the enrolled members have not master the rules. He said they will be admitted but will not be issued with certificate until when it is confirmed that they had master the rules. He accordingly admit them to the Women Guild of the Diocese of Lokoja. He invite old members to welcome the new members and pray the guild prayer together. These was followed with Holy Communion presided by Venerable B. F.Akogun, the Vicar/Archdeacon. It was one of the interesting occasion of the Diocese with His Grace Most Revd Emmanuel Egbunu, Ph.D laying of his hands on accredited members of confirmees, mothers union and Women guild. To God be they glory.We pray God will lift the church to grow from strength to strength and with the coming of the new confirmation and enrollment move the Oworo Missionary Archdeaconry grow to a higher height of affluence. The Bishop admonished members of the church not to be ashamed to confess the faith of Christ crucification and be many to fight under his banner against sin, evil forces of the world and continue as Christ faithful soldiers and servant unto their life’s to the end. The service ends with thanks giving, songs of praise and dancing by confirmation candidates, newly enrolled members of MU & WG and the congregation.
