Following intelligence reports of arrival of unidentified strangers suspected to be fulani men at the Achoze farm centres coupled with the recent act of kidnappings around the axis, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Security Matters for Okene Local Government, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad on Wednesday convey enlarge security meetings between the local farmers and fulani herdsmen at the farm centres in Okene.
Hon. Abdulrazaq arrived Achoze farm centres in company of the Local Government Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Commander of the Army base in Okene, Men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC) and the Director of Security Services (DSS). Leaders of the 17 farm settlements were present and reported the sudden influx of young fulani men along with their families without any formal notification and approval of the host community.
They expressed fear that since the new fulani men arrived without cattles and no proper identity, they have resolved to call on government to help vacate them from the farm centres. This is unconnected with the recent surge in crime and criminalities within the farm centres. The leadership of the fulani herdsmen at Achoze and it environs agreed to have received some strangers without necessary approvals from the host community.
After much deliberation, the Chief Security Officer of the Council, Hon. Abdulrazaq Muhammad read riot act to all and gave the fulani eight (8) days to fish out criminals within their folds while the final decision on their vacation will be announced after due consultation with the State Governor, Alh. Yahaya Bello. He however enjoin the farmers to remain peaceful, show love and tolerate one another but be vigilante and report any suspected persons to his office.
