
As part of its contribution towards arresting insecurity in the country,The Hydroelectric Power Producing Area Development Commission(HYPPADEC) on Thursday, distributed a total of 140 motorcycles and 1450 life Jackets to its host communities in kogi state.
The state cordinator of HYPPADEC,Engr Joan Oguche disclosed this at a meeting with the stakeholders on the need to effectively curb insecurity in the state.
Engr Joan pointed out that in kogi state,HYPPADEC host local government areas are 10 hence motorcycles will be distributed to the security agencies including the vigiantes and security operative in the 10 local Government Areas in the state.
“In kogi state,140 motorcycles and 1450 life jackets wil be distributed to lokoja,Bassa,Ibaji,Ofu,Idah,Ajaokuta,kogi,Igalamela,Adavi local government areas to tackle security challenges facing these council areas”
She added that,the Chairman and traditional leaders should synergize and ensure the materials get to the affected communities.
Earlier in his remarks the Commissioner for Environment Hon victor Omofaiye thanked HYPPADEC for their continous support towards empowering people in kogi state.He noted that they play a significant role in enhancing quality development in the state.
While presenting the motorcycle to the beneficiaries, the state cordinator alongside the Commissioner for Environment stressed that the motorcycles were distributed solely to improve security in the state.
Oguche however warned the benefeciaries against selling the motorcycles for personal gains.
Chairman and traditional leaders of Bassa,lokoja,ofu and Ibaji in their Goodwill messages praised the gesture by HYPPADEC with the view to securing and improving the standard of living in the affected areas.
