The 2022 Iyara Day and the 28th Iyara Cultural Day organized by Iyara Development Association (IDA), has come and gone but the memories of the day will ever remain evergreen with the people of the community and friends of this progressive community.
Iyara is the headquarters of Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, a community known for its self-help development, strong in agricultural production, known for its hospitality, courageous and has excellent ways of doing things.
The community has four distinct but harmonious quarters namely: Onah, Otun, Ilukpa and Araromi, It is a community that accommodates large number of non-indigenes and several clubs and associations all working towards the development of the community. Here is a community that has produced high profile individuals occupying powerful positions at international, national and local levels, many of its personalities are doing very well in private sector of the economy and in the military, para-military, engineering, medicine, law among other human endevours.
At the occasion of the 28th edition of Iyara Day, the national president of Iyara Development Association Alhaji Aliyu Badaki congratulated the entire community for witnessing another colourful celebration and he called for unity and a peaceful co-existence which has been the hallmark of the community for ages. He used the occasion to thank some individuals and groups within the community for their contributions towards the development of Iyara. He also used the occasion to call on the non- governmental organizations, state and federal governments to do more for the community in terms of infrastructural developments.
The 2022 Iyara Day also witnessed the launch of One Hundred Million Naira Development Plan for the community which is aimed at improving water supply, electricity, security, education etc.
The national president also revealed some striking achievements in 2021 under his leadership which include water supply, building and renovation of classroom blocks, installation of street lights, building of police posts, health- care centre among others.
The 2022 edition of Iyara Day was celebrated with pomp and pageantry with different cultural groups displaying their talents to the admiration of the audience. There were goodwill messages from within and outside the community as well as cultural display to spice up the occasion.
