*Iyara Development Movement Hails Ibikunle’s Appointment as Secretary Ijumu LGA*

The New National President of Iyara Development Movement, Alhaji Aliyu Badaki has hailed the appointment of Mr. Alex Ropo Ibikunle as the Secretary of Ijumu Local Government Council.

Alhaji Aliyu Badaki while speaking at the annual General Meeting of Ijumu Development Union at Iyara, congratulated the appointee, urging him to see the new task as call for greater Service.

The President thanked the Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Taofiq Isa for appointing a distinguished son of Iyara and expressed optimism in the capacity of Mr. Ibikunle in living up to expectation.

“We congratulate the Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area Hon. Taofiq Isah on his recent victory at the polls and swearing-in to the office. Also, we thank the Executive Chairman for appointing our own son
Hon. Alex Ibikunle as Secretary to Ijumu Local Government.” He stated.

 

The IDM National President further said ”We acknowledged and appreciate the efforts of the Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom HRM Oba Williams Olusegun Ayeni for his kind conduct for peaceful co-existence in Iyara and Ijumu in general. We also commend the efforts of the outgoing IDU Executive Council under the leadership of Mr. Taiye Atibioke.”

Alhaji Aliyu Badaki maintained that Iyara as the Headquarters of Ijumu Local
Government is yet to be accorded the status of a Local Government Headquarters especially the statutory percentage of Local Government Allocation meant for Headquarters’ development which according to him, has not been put to consideration.

He further noted that “Iyara is the only Local Government Headquarters’ in Kogi sate that her Oba is in third class. All these and other deficient for Iyara is supposed to be a collective effort of the entire Ijumu to overcome, as there is no community in Ijumu that Host Ijumu citizens than Iyara.”

“As for Iyara and her citizens, we shall continue to be law-abiding and
supportive to plans and programmes of Ijumu and government of the day.” He added.
