It is with a heavy heart that the member representing Kabba/Bunu State Constituency and Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Prince) Matthew Kolawole received the devastating news of the demise of one of the finest of Kabba (Owe)/Okun patriots and illustrious sons, an erudite scholar and administrator par excellence who served two terms meritoriously as the Rector of the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, uncle, Professor Matthew Idowu Ajibero whose death occurred yesterday in Ilorin after a protracted illness.
The Speaker said his death at this time is catastrophic and monumental and a personal loss to him, the people of Gbeleko – Kabba Community, Okun nation, Kogi State, Library Science, Nigeria and humanity considering his philanthropic gestures toward the indigent students and down trodden in the society.
He said Professor Matthew Idowu Ajibero is truly an elder statesman, a patriotic and down to earth individual who turned around the fortune of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja when he held sway as the Rector, adding that he mentored countless personalities through employment and admissions that have impacted on those individuals who are now contributing in no small measure to the society at large as a seasoned administrator and educationist par excellence.
The Speaker described him as a detribalize personality that is ready to go all out to make others comfortable, stressing that he was one of the major stakeholders that supported his political career wholeheartedly long before he won the 2015 House of Assembly Election, a gesture he will never forget in his life.
He noted that though death is an expected end of every mortal hence, he enjoined his family to take solace in the words of God which say for everything under the sun there is time, a time to be born, and time to die.
He urges his wife and children to continue to uphold his legacy of hard work, simplicity, perseverance, truthfulness and honesty as his memory will continue to linger in our minds forever.
