NAKOSS NATIONAL EXECUTIVES PAID COURTESY VISIT TO THE COMMISSIONER FOR EDUCATION, BEGS FOR AUTOMATIC EMPLOYMENT FOR RECENT FIRST CLASS GRADUATES AS WELL AS ITEMISING THE UPCOMING PROGRAMMES OF THE ASSOCIATION TO THE MINISTRY.
The leadership of NAKOSS NATIONAL ably led by the President, Comrade Mojirola Balogun were present at the office of the Commissioner for Education, distinguished Hon. Wemi Jones for a necessary courtesy visit most recently.
It was a great moment as the association were recieved in high spirit to the office of the erudite Commissioner and of course meeting with him at such a crucial time as this is one of the most important steps towards the goals that NAKOSS is set to achieve in the coming day.
The Hon. Commissioner being the host offered a pleasurable welcome to the association leadership for the august visit and as well appreciated the efforts of NAKOSS NATIONAL leadership in uniting and promoting the common interest of the students under the umbrella of the association.
The President, Comr. Mojirola Balogun while speaking on behalf of the association lauded the efforts of the Commissioner for Education for his useful collaboration with the Governor and relevant State agencies to promote the value of education in the State, especially this moment that youths are losing interest in education. She further stressed that attempts by the government at rejigging the glory of education in the State is obvious and requires massive applause for the sacrifices the government is taking to ensure that the future of our students are adequately secured.
Having exchanged pleasantries and appreciation for their feat of excellence respectively, the President proceeded into discussing important matters of concern regarding Kogi State students, especially the recent first class graduates, Bursary and Scholarship schemes.
The President debriefed the Commissioner about the upcoming programmes of the association, which he promised to support the full actualization.
Comrade Mojirola Balogun proceeded also to officially inform the Commissioner about the recent feat of excellence achieved by Kogi students across the nation.
“The recent academic milestone and feat of excellence attained by Mr Enebe Simon Adinoyi, Olajide Joshua Omajarabi, Dr. Idris Zubaida Oyiza and many others were nothing short of jaw-dropping personal achievement and of course it’s such a mouthwatering one for NAKOSS, not because we doubt our students’ levelheadedness but because they achieved the milestone faraway from our country home. There’s no iota of doubt therefore that Kogi State is one of the State with the brightest academic stars at the moment and the evidences are all over the place.
While Mr. Enebe Simon, a Kogi State student emerged ‘OVERALL BEST GRADUATING STUDENT OF FUTMINNA WITH A GPA OF 4.88’ from the Department of Quantity Survey, Mr Olajide Joshua Omajarabi from the Department of Statistics had an outstanding Cumulative Grade Point Accumulation (CGPA) of 4.83 which outrightly placed him the best graduating student amongst the recently convocated 804 graduates of Federal University, Lokoja.
At the other end of the far North, Idris Zubaida Oyiza carpeted numerous course mates in the Department of Internal and Community Medicine as she forthcome as “THE BEST GRADUATING STUDENT”.
It didn’t end there, she further scooped the awards of “THE BEST GRADUATING STUDENT IN SURGERY”, “BEST FEMALE GRADUATING STUDENT” and “OVERALL BEST GRADUATING STUDENT” at the prestigious Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto State.
We as a body cannot stomach the happiness reverberating in our hearts than to gush it out as we identify with the duo on this fresh academic prowess they recently displayed in the nation, bagging them numerous awards of excellence. We are indeed proud and joyful to see our students progressing beyond the barriers of borders.
We appeal the State Government, State and non actors and NGOs to consider establishing at least a modicum of paraphernalia, set up to ensure that Students who beat all odds to graduate with such grade (FIRST CLASS) are coming directly into the State employment log, this would encourage our students to put up the best of their zest and gusto towards attaining academic excellence and by virtue of that reinstate the lost glory of the nation’s education system”.
The Hon. Commissioner in his words described education as the most powerful tool for emancipation, reason why Gov. Yahaya Bello placed so much premium, described his monumental investment of budgeting 30% in 2022 even beyond the UNESCO stipulation as unprecedented
The Commissioner described education as the most important tool in life, describing Gov. Bello as an unusual politician, investing in education not for the immediate benefits but because of his believe that it is aimed at building the future.
Hon. Jones described the investment in education by Gov. Bello as monumental and iconic, added that his signing the education law, changing the face of secondary education remains unprecedented.
He further assured that the harvest of Government’s investment in the state has started showing forth, described the Gov. Bello as an uncommon phenomenon.
He concluded by assenting that “Kogi State indigenes who graduate from the State Tertiary institutions and excel with flying colours are to enjoy automatic employment from henceforth”.
It’s of course a massive win as this would gear Kogi students across the globe to fasten their belt and put up their best to record such milestone.
