NAKOSS NATIONAL PRESIDENCY SOLIDARITY VISIT TO KOGI STUDENTS IN THE NORTH EAST NIGERIA CAMPUSES
— The Borno State Visit
The fundamental priority of any focused and credible Students union/ association leadership has for long been established to be the welfare, security, protection of the rights of her members and consistent development and/ or advancement of the Union/ association and her members.
This conventional call of leadership has not only been adopted by the leadership of the National Association of Kogi State Students’ (NAKOSS) under the administration of her President, Comrade Rachael Mojisola Balogun but has also been strengthen and critically implemented. Against all odds, against security threats, against distance, against distractions from within and outside the association (NAKOSS).
Considering the prevailing security challenges that has been the order of the day in the North East Nigeria states, the NAKOSS President Comr. Rachael Mojisola Balogun in the Progressive and productive attempt to fulfill her campaign promises to prioritize the welfare and safety of all Kogi state indigenous Students (home and diaspora) and to facelift NAKOSS as an noble association by broadening the tentacles of the association has on the 18th – 21st December, 2021 visited Kogi Indigenous students, studying in all higher institution of learning across Borno State.
The President and her team was received by Comr. Sugul Abba, the Acting President of the Borno Students Union (BSU), Comr. Abdulazeez Abdulhaqq NAKOSS President University of Maiduguri, Comr. Suleiman Mohammed Sariki, the NANS Zone C immediate past coordinator amongst many other critical stakeholders.
The Agenda of the visit according to the NAKOSS Presidency team was to:
1. To know the state of the Kogi Students welfare and security in Borno State. (Considering the prevailing security challenges) and to enhance/ promote their welfarism, academic performance, safety and well-being
2. For inclusion and to familiarize the association with her local chapters in the state
3. To provide and facilitate welfare packages for the students and the local chapters
4. To plant new local chapters in institutions where there are none, to strengthen the existing ones with the National Secretariat Support and to rejuvenate the weak local chapters in the state
5. To intimate the Kogi state indigenous Students in the state about the NAKOSS Presidency Students Agenda for Yahaya Bello (SAY Bello) Support group. A campaign network to propagate the political prosperity and the presidential aspirations of the Kogi State Executive Governor, His Excellence Ahj. Yahaya Adoza Bello.
6. To meet the Political, Government, Youths and Students stakeholders in the state, also to familiarize and mobilize Support and build a formidable structure for the SAY Bello agenda.
7. To facilitate a good network and relationship between the leadership of the Kogi state indigenous Students in Borno and Borno State political, government and youth/students stakeholders.
The 4 day visitation was a glamorous success with credible impacts made and the agenda of the visit accomplished.
— The presidency had a 3 session meeting with the Executives and members of the NAKOSS University of Maiduguri chapter. Where it was established that this is the pioneer Presidential visitation of the NAKOSS National to the prestigious institution
— The presidency also had an extensive meeting with the SRC Unimaid for familiarization and to deliberate on inclusion of Kogi Indigenous Students and how the Students can further benefits from the SRC
— Also, a meeting was scheduled by the Kogi indigenous staffs in the school with the NAKOSS Presidency
— On the second day of the visit, the NAKOSS Presidency was received by the Kogi students and warmly welcomed by the SUG president of Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri, where issues concerning Kogi Indigenous Students in the school were discussed and also the modalities for rejuvenating the NAKOSS Ramat Polytechnic local chapter was deliberated on
— Also the NAKOSS Presidency and the leadership of the Kogi indigenous Students in Borno State visited Kashim Ibrahim College of Education, Maiduguri and delegations sent to Borno State University to mobilize Kogi Students in the campuses and the plant new local chapters there in.
— The third day of the visitation was dedicated to visit to government officials in the states after which there was was a solidarity meeting with the Borno State Youth and Students community leadership.
In attendance were SUG Presidents, NANS JCC Borno, NANS Zone C leadership and Stakeholders, NAKOSS Local chapter Presidents (Borno/ Adamawa/ Yobe) Leadership of the Borno State Students’ Association, leadership of the Nigerian Youths Parliament, Borno State Chapter) amongst many others.
The meeting was a successful and productive one where the No.: 5, 6 and 7 agenda of the visitation were deliberated on and achieved.
On the last day of the visitation 21th December, 2021
The NAKOSS National President organized a welfare support program for Indigenous Kogi Students in the Borno state, made donations to all local chapters, donated banners to help identify meeting place and also funded the planting of new local chapters in two campuses (Kashim Ibrahim College of Education and Borno State University).
The President departed to continue her visitation to the North East Nigeria states on the fourth day, immediately after the welfare program where the indigenous Students of Kogi in Borno State passed a vote on confidence in her, declaring her a one of a kind and outstanding President of the NAKOSS National.
