NAKOSS VISITED KOGI STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY, INTERACT WITH THE SPEAKER.
Members of the National Executives and Legislative council of the National Association Of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS NATIONAL) ably led by the President, Comr. Rachael Mojirola Balogun paid courtesy visit to Hon. Matthew Kolawole, the Speaker, Kogi State House Of Assembly.
Warm pleasantries were exchanged as the revered politician heartily welcomed the effervescent and vibrant NAKOSS team.
The President of the association commended the Hon. Speaker for the good works the Assembly is collaboratively doing with the State Executives under the watch of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, to ensure that Kogi ranks high amongst the comity of nations.
The visit, which is not unconnected to the growth of NAKOSS as usual, yielded positive results as the Hon. Speaker devoted much of his time to admonish the NAKOSS team on the need to take their education serious, shun social vices and at the end received the action plans (Proposal) of NAKOSS NATIONAL.
“Esteemed NAKOSSITES, I welcome you all. To start with, I want to really advise you to face your studies. If you don’t face your study, it doesn’t have a good end. So you must face your study so you don’t allow student union activities to overshadow your intention of being students. Sincerely speaking, education is the bedrock of life and if you don’t have education, you’re nowhere to be found, I really want to encourage you to please face your studies and make meaningful use of it”.
He further mentioned that our country is devoting rapt attention to the younger generations to come up, this is evident as banks and big parastatals no longer agree to employ people who are older than 25 and the lazy students would soon faze out of the system except students can wrap up their education and finish NYSC before or at most 25 years of age.
For the part of shunning social vices, Hon. Kolawole stated that “You can be a President of an association without belonging to any bad group in the society”.
He further reiterated that “Sincerely speaking, I love talking to students like you, who believes in the struggle but you must be sincere with yourself.
“The more you free yourselves from social vices, and delinquencies, the better for you. The better you can start pursuing your future which is in your hand. Please my brothers and sisters, I’m encouraging you to live a good life, face your studies and above all, play less of students union politics” he further admonishes.
He recalled his experience being a student unionist, the benefit of which he still enjoys today considering that he started from somewhere before getting to his present height in politics but that whilst there, he never played away his time.
In reaction, the vivacious national President of NAKOSS humbly appreciated the good gesture of the Hon. Speaker before proceeding to proposal presentation.
The distinguished President, having presented the proposal of intent to the Speaker also took time to give a detailed oral explanation.
She further requested for a space of time with the Honorable members of the Assembly to present the compiled proposal during one of the plenary sessions, we need all the 25 members of the State Assembly to key into this project, we won’t underestimate the time that would be given to us” she lobbied.
The Speaker agreed and stated vocally that he would minute on the proposal and take necessary actions.
Given the foregoing, it’s obvious that the comrade Mojirola led NAKOSS are up to something innovative and truly deserve support across board to actualize this dream.
