Voting in central senatorial district of Kogi State commenced on Saturday at about 7:30 am as voters trooped out to cast their vote for the candidates of their choice.
In the Okene local government area, the electorate queued to vote for their respective candidate and also in Ogori Mangogo, Ajaokuta and Okehi local government areas.
Speaking at one of the polling units, in Adavi-Eba, Nurudeen Islamic Primary School polling 001 and 002, in Adavi local government area, the former Executive Director of Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Dr Sanusi Ohiare expressed satisfaction over the adequate preparation by INEC in executing the general election.
Ohiare who is also the All Progressive Congress (APC), governorship aspirant, said the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, (BVAS) introduced by INEC has add credibility to the general election, describing the effort as commendable.
The governorship aspirant also commended the electorate for maintaining law and order stressing that so far election is peaceful in Kogi central.
“From my observation the INEC official came to the polling units in Adavi-Eba community very early and you can see that voters queue to cast their votes , but I noticed that there is an inefficiency on the side of polling unit officials as they were to slow in attending to voters aside this, the electoral umpire has done creditably well.
“I commended INEC for all of the effort they put into the election and the federal government for providing funds for the logistics that enable INEC to get to this point.
“I am optimistic that at the end of the day our party APC will out victorious in all the positions we contested for” he said.
