The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters for Omala Local Government, Hon. (Alh) Ibrahim Yakubu Aboh has described community policing initiative as very commendable.

He gave the commendation in Abejukolo during his address, while interacting with applicants who indicated interest to participate in the screening/selection exercise.

He said, “this is a noble idea that will get all and sundries involved in the policing of our communities. The Special Constable or Constabulary, who will by law be referred to Community Policing Officer (CPOs) are not to work in isolation, but play complementary role to the conventional police structure in the area”.

I assure you that Kogi State arm of community policing is going to receive serious boost and special attention, considering the invaluable qualities of security conscious Governor we have, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello. Therefore, we are encouraged to play our part and let Omala Local Government be considered among the best”.

He expressed confidence in the committee headed by the Omala DPO, DSP Johnson Ogbebo while assuring prospective CPOs of a transparent and fair process. He urged them not to politicize nor abuse the process, adding that security is the business of all.

Community policing is a state wide exercise, backed and approved by the federal government as a strategy to boost the performance of the conventional police via collaborative information/intelligence sharing to ensure security of lives and properties.
