Oparison Leads Wreath-laying Ceremony On Armed Forces Remembrance Day
The 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day has ended at Akpafa the headquarter of Ogori-Magongo local government with a Wreath-laying ceremony by the Chairman of the local government Area Rt.Hon. Goke Oparison
The laying of the Wreath marks the end of the emblem week held in memory of Nigerian’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives during the First and Second World Wars, Nigerian Civil War, peace support and various internal security operations.
It also marked a day to reach out to the loved ones left behind to and rehabilitate those have been suffered injuries or left incapacitated.
The ceremony, which started at about 10 O’clock with arrival of the Executive Chairman of Ogori-Magongo local government ably represented by his Vice Hon. Kate Taiwo Obapitan kick started after She inspected the guard of honor.
Prayers were offered for the peace and stability of the country by the presiding pastor of St James Anglican Church Magogon Ven. Emmanuel Olumuyiwa Ogunmola who prayed for the protection of soldiers fighting the counter-insurgency war and other security operations across the country, for the families of those who have lost their lives to keep the country at peace, and the country’s leaders.
Dignitaries at the event took their turns to lay their Wreaths after the Executive Chairman was followed by the DPO SP. Paulinus O. Idenyi. Others who took turns at the Wreath-laying event were the Royal Fathers, the representative of the Olumagongo of Magongo HRH.Obin Sam Bola, HRH. David Akande, HRH Otaro Obajulu, and Ven.EO Ogunmola.
The ceremony was also witnessed by the Secretary to the local government Comrade Obasoji Adesina,Heads of Department and the political appointees of the local government.
