Prof. Jegede Task FUL, new VC on Academics and Structural Development
As Professor Olayemi Akinwumi took the mantle of leadership as the third Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), an erudite scholar and former Secretary to Kogi State Government , Professor Olubemiro Jegede has charged the Vice Chancellor on academic and structural development of the institution.
Professor Jegede , the pioneer Vice Chancellor of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) gave the charge on Wednesday when he visited the new Vice Chancellor in Lokoja to congratulate him for his well derseved appointment.
He stated that no university can grow without the selfless service and commitment of the head of the institution, noting that the appointment of Professor Akinwumi will no doubt bring the desired development to the university.
“The new Vice Chancellor has been in the academic circle for long and he has held many positions , so he has the experience to transform the university and I am optimistic that he will leave the university better than he met it” he said
Responding , Professor Akinwumi promised to use his contacts and experience to make the institution as one of the 10-top ranking universities in Africa.
He noted that the utmost on the agenda for the university is to pursue revenue generation to augment the Federal Government and agencies support to enable the university move forward.
He thank Professor Jegede for the visit and assured him that he will not leave any stone unturn in his effort to take the university to the next level of development both academics and structurally.
