Like a bolt from the blue, he emerged with relative popularity but assumed an unprecedented prominence in the political land scape of Ankpa 1 state constituency where he has sufficiently and successfully established his presence as a leader with a rare capacity to implement the true concept of sociopolitical representation in a democratic certain. Not too much a rosy journey but a tortuous experience laced with challenges of achieving the predetermined resolves for a political breakthrough. The first shot at politics wasn’t an aesthetic show but with reverberating echoes of an imminent return of a young and determined leader with a mindset to redefine the essence of representation. Here is Rt Hon Ahmed Mohammed , Deputy Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, a man with so much sagacity and rare political gallantry whose intelligibility within the political cycle is simply unbelievable.
While we appreciate the past leaders who held sway in the constituency before the advent of Hon. Ahmed, he practically changed the face of governance by redefining leadership through tactical alignments but holding firmly constant the interest of the constituents
Unless one wants to be mischievous, Hon Ahmed has demonstrated in no small measure a leader who believes an improved humanity is a happy society where egalitarianism is respected and appreciated as a liberal political culture in sustaining and advancing the course of participatory democracy. With projects cutting across the five wards in Ankpa 1 constituency, he has endeared himself to the people as a leader with a mindset that effective representation in governance is not only sacrosanct but also a possibility. I was privileged to engage him in a heated discussion some few months ago where he summarily manifested an innate passion to continue in the line of leadership that is centered on humanity. His “water for all project” appears not to have been rivalled as every ward within the constituency under his representation has the presence of a motorized borehole coupled with other lives impacting developments. I am also aware of his numerous scholarship awards to students seeking to advance their course of study, renovation of community clinics , building of a new structure for persons living with disabilities who are not even of Igala extraction, creation of job opportunities through vocational enrollments and outright employment of quite a sizeable number of persons into government agencies and parastatals .
A retrospective assessment with a deep comparative introspection into the stewardship of the various representatives in the state assembly before the emergence of Hon Ahmed Mohammed will only showcase a man whose performance is worthy of commendations. He may not be entirely perfect given the gymnastics and manipulations on the political scene of Kogi State,but here is a youth who has so far lived up to the billing.
