The Kogi State Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, Comr. Ayodele Thomas says the postponed branch elections of the union is sequel to a letter from the Kogi State Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON.

According to the State NUT Chairman, following the request by ALGON, the Umbrella body of the 21 Local Government Council in the State requesting for the shift of the election by three weeks, the NUT had to harken to the request since they are the Chief Security officers of their LGAs.

According to the NUT Chairman, ALGON sited the need for provision of adequate security for the election so as not to also thinker with the existing peace in the State.

The Chairman dispelled the rumour making the rounds regarding the postponment of the election, said the decision for the shift was a response to the request by ALGON Kogi State Chapter.

The Chairman assured that the Union is set for the branch polls and would hold on the date it has been shifted to and according to the earlier released timetable, thanked members for their patient and understanding.
