The case for Okun Agenda 2023
The Okun people must be able to agree within themselves decisively and unanimously before any alliance will work in their interest no matter how desirable or expedient such political alliance may be.
Within the Nigerian context there is no state that has been shaped more by his tribal and ethnic dimension like Kogi State. Therefore, to deny the ethnic dimension and the tribal intricacies is to live in self-denial rather what we should do is to annex this ethnic dimension to promote equity, justice and fairness.
Never! I repeat never! Never in the history of Okun people have we had a divided and purposeless front politically like we have at the moment, Okun people are not in a state mentally, physically and culturally where they enter into to any political battle or struggle at the moment, we have been divided and weigh down by self-interest and politics of crumbs for too long.
We the Okun people need to be more coherent, more decisive and act in full conviction of our agenda and am afraid this is something that is very lacking at the moment! Therefore before 2023 itself the Okun people must re-invent themselves, unite and rise up to impose themselves, their values and their interest as a community.
If it is this same leadership and political representative that will lead our struggle in 2023 then we are destined to fail long before 2023, not only that they cannot unite or inspire our people, they are already bugged down by the dirty politics of our time and overwhelmed by a self-centered agenda that has existed for too long.
Okun Agenda 2023 is essentially an internal working tool between the Okun people themselves to inspire our people to action and unity. We need to build grounds for what is coming ahead, politics itself is an arena for conscientious and conscious application.
Let me also add that Okun Agenda is not built around anyone! It is the people themselves that will decide when the time comes, what we are doing is to give our people and our future a sense of direction and purpose and also cultivate all existing assets materially, physically and in terms of network to project our struggle and our course.
Therefore, the Okun Agenda is not partisan it is a socio-cultural movement that cuts across all political parties, status and gender which seeks to mobilize and inspire our people into unity of purpose and action.
All Okun people home and abroad, young and old , regardless of political affiliation or gender have a vital role to play in mobilizing our people not only for 2023 but beyond. The disunited politics and self-interest agenda are not sustainable any longer!
