THE ESTABLISHED CONFLUENCE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, OSARA
The idea of establishing Confluence University of science and Technology at Osara, under the dynamic leadership of our amiable and pragmatic Governor, His Excellency Alh. Yahaya Bello, the executive Governor of Kogi State, is a good development to happen in this regime.
First of all, I want to give thanks to almighty God for this kind gesture and commend the efforts of Kogi State Governor for promptly signing into Law, the bills to establish Confluence University of science and technology at Osara and central reference hospital Okene and for other matters. These are legacy projects that will stand the test of time in the history of Kogi State governance.
I want to also commend all the Kogi State House of Assembly members, the clerk, Alh Ibrahim Isa Amoka under the able leadership of speaker, Rt. Hon Prince Mathew Kolawole and other stake holders, for the speedily passage of the said executive bills into law.
These bills will definitely another giant developmental strides in education and health sectors of GYB government of new direction in Kogi State.
The benefits of the proposed confluence University Science and technology at Osara cannot be over emphasized, hence, when established,
(1) It will produce the needed technical manpower for Ajaokuta Steel Company Co Ltd, National Iron-Ore and mining company Itakpe, Cement Factory Obajana and construction Industries.
(2) It will create employment and admission opportunities for Kogites.
(3) It will render consultancy services to corporate Organizations, Govt Agencies and industries.
(4) It will boost social economic activities of the host community and Kogi State at large
(5) It will conduct research in Science, Technology and Engineering fields for rapid development and industrialization of Kogi State and Nigeria at large.
(6) It will be self-sustaining tertiary institution.
(7) It will proffer solutions to industrial and environmental problems apart from the training and research activities of the said specialized university.
In the same vein the proposed reference hospital, Okene will bring health care services close to the grass root people in Kogi State Central senatorial district and North Central respectively.
Once again, I want to commend His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State and his new direction team for taking practical steps to embark on these laudable projects for humanity.
