As we approach the November 2023 Kogi State Governorship election, the drumbeat for electioneering campaign, has earnestly commenced with political gladiators embarked on re-alignment, re-positioning, strategizing and reconnecting where necessary, all in preparation towards the party primaries slated for early April, 2023.
In the past independence of Nigeria, several political parties come and gone, with several leaders of Presidents, Governors, National Assembly and State Assembly members, but the pre-independent challenges remain and even getting worsen.
Note that Kogi State is not left out of the past political homogenous deficiency, that the people don’t have the needed brains and resources to proffer solutions to our leadership problems, but our main problem has been misappropriation of leaders to the rightful positions; but the so much expected Messiah is not that far from our reach until the emergence of Governor Yahaya Bello divinely came on board, that eventually restored our hope of good governance.
Interestingly, the political tempo in Kogi State, no doubt, is gradually building up, the good people of Kogi State, is not left out of the heat and the desire to search for credible, honest, reliable, dynamic and result-oriented personalities with impeccable track records of past achievements and a man considered as a brilliant achiever. Therefore, the good people and political pundits in the state, believe that they need not look elsewhere for the right young and energetic politician but Senator Oseni, who has all it takes to fulfill their yearnings at the state, come 2024. Interestingly, Senator Oseni has been a federal legislator, as Senator for four years, one time Executive Chairman, Kogi state Internal Generating Revenue, without blemish, believe that he could further exploit his vast experience to pilot the affairs of the state to the next level.
Some notable political stakeholders, cut across party affiliations in the state, came up, urged Senator Oseni, to throw his hat in the ring to contest the governorship election come November 2023, as he is seen to be the most capable and acceptable candidate among the contestants at the moment, that would consolidate on the credible achievement of the incumbent governor Yahaya Adoza Bello.
The immeasurable attributes and achievement of this young informed the mounting pressure on him to contest the Koge state governorship election, in order to extend this his Midas-Touch to the people of Kogi state. The call on him, in this regard, became louder by the day and irresistible. It is expected that as a lover and listener of his people, he will heed to the clarion calls and answer the prayers of his people, which he eventually yielded to. The people believe that democracy grow stronger when leadership are entrusted in the hands of experienced politicians who have compassion for humanity and could use the position to better the life of the people he govern.
It should be noted that Senator Oseni is a man who has undoubtedly established himself as an astute and seasoned politician with influence spread across the Kogi Central Senatorial District and beyond. Since ventured into partisan politics and contest, he remains popular because he is focused, consistent and disposed to the yearning of the people. In Kogi Central today, he has been a pivotal figure with large political followers. He has a “well oiled” political structure.
Upon inauguration into the Red Chamber of the National Assembly 2019 as Senator, and to demonstrate the seriousness with which he regarded his mandate, Senator Oseni redefined the priorities of the constituency he represents, such that infrastructures and human development that would reach the remote corners of the area. His revolutionary approach to development has taken healthcare delivery and infrastructural development to the door-steps of the people, good roads, provision of solar power energy and human capacity development. Education has also being one of the constituency project priorities, as he has in this perspective sponsored Bills of establishing University of Steel to urgment the build-up of Ajaokuta Steel Industry. Another Bill sponsored by the Senator that is undergoing advance reading is the upgrading of Federal College of Okene to University status Issue of poverty alleviation has been the focal points of Senator Oseni’s constituency programme. Though his human empowerment programme, the youths and women has not only found succor in life but presently are earning sustainable livelihood.
Interestingly, in order to further actualize the dream and fulfilling his electioneering campaign promises to the people, he ventured into water projects. His efforts towards this abandoned human priority over time by his predecessors, Senator Oseni’s giant stride towards providing water to the people yielded fruitful result as the perennial snarling water crisis in the area have reduced to minimal as a result of his prompt intervention, by sinking motorized boreholes across the five local government areas of the senatorial district.
One other major achievement of Senator Oseni in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly, is his involvement in the persuasion of the Federal Government to see the need to revisit the Ajaokuta Steel Industry. He has never sleep on the issue of the completion of the steel industry. His credible achievement so far in this legislative House, no doubt, endeared him to the people of Kogi Central and beyond to further venture into governorship contest.
Interestingly, the democratic credentials of this young man can never be in doubt. This is because as a successful federal Legislator at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly, and a creative thinker, he has gotten connected to philosophical stream as an outstanding genius, always working towards the growth of his fatherland and beyond. Providence has shown that he will be a positive influence on the destiny and political rebirth of Kogi state, if given maximum support and mandate to victory in the forthcoming governorship contest.
With Senator Oseni, Kogi state need not look elsewhere for the right, energetic young man to pilot their political dreams in the next four years. He has it all in him, he has been doing it right that touches people’s life positively. However, whichever side of the coin one looks at it, Senator Oseni remain a gallant victor at all season.
