The Uncommon qualities of Alh. (Dr). Ibrahim Idris Former
Governor of Kogi State
“Government is instituted for the common good, protection, safety,
prosperity and happiness of the people and not for the profit, honour or
private interest” Good Governance is a function of a leader per time.
The former Governor Alh. Ibrahim Idris who was elected in 2003-2011
under the people Democratic Party (PDP) was an achiever, and
Excellent, He was unassuming, not the usual popular politician, who has
been in the saddle of public leadership. Alh. Ibrahim Idris was a
thorough business man who has carved an niche for himself before
coming into polities.
The search for who could occupy the vacuum created in the Leadership
in Kogi State Lead some Sons and daughter of Kogi State to beam
searchlight on Alh. Ibrahim Idris, he was quietly doing his business in
Sokoto State, Impacting Lives and Nurturing his business like a baby.
No wonder, the man brought Quality, Commitment, Dexterity and
focused Leadership in Kogi State as the Executive Governor.
Alh. Ibrahim Idris believes that there are no heights that
cannot be surmounted by man who knows the secrets of
making dreams come true, based on secret, curiosity,
confidence, courage, consistency and the greatest of it all, the
fear of Almighty God.
The uncommon qualities of Alh. Ibrahim Idris is anchored on the fear of
God, humility and self built confidence from the private sector, which
propelled his governance of Kogi State.
What stroked me to write about this man of honour, humility personified
is his interest to serve humanity through philanthropic gestures,
continually almost 9 years after leaving the office, I also dogged deep
into his style of leadership when he was a Governor of Kogi State
compared to others, you can agree with me that the interest and focus
of his leadership is centered on service to humanity.

The Jakadan of Sokoto Alh. Ibrahim Idris is the only man in the North
Central that is involved in giving back to the society in such a unique
manna by getting closer to God and Humanity.
Its uncommon wisdom for a man to be involved in building religious
worship centers for muslims and Christians even as a Muslim after he
has left the office as the Executive Governor of Kogi State.
His humility personification has always attracted people to him in any of
his outings in Kogi State and beyond “Fondly call Baba Kogi” Life is
about making impact not making Income this is what has made
the sultan of Sokoto Sa’ad Abubakar to beam his searchlight on
Alh. Ibrahim Idris for the exulted position of the Jakadan of
Sokoto (Ambassador of Sokoto Sultanate).
His leadership as the formal Governor of Kogi State has no equal, apart
from the late Governor, Prince Abubakar Audu no one has beaten is
records of achievement.
Worthy of not is his transparent , accountability and fairness In
the management of resources, the only Governor who did not
borrow a dine from any bank in his tenure of nine years
leadership, this is unprecedented in the history of all Governors
in the North Central from 2003-2011 as the executive Governor
of Kogi State.
We have also discovered that there is no Local Government and wards
he has not imparted when he was a Governor. The only Governor since
the creation of Kogi State that has doggedly believed in equity, justice
and fairness in the distribution of appointment, amenities of State
Resource.
Other side of his character that people talk about is his resolve to
support anybody God has revealed to him, relationship of contiguity not
with standing to take over leadership of Kogi State.
The State of Kogi leadership is beyond this sentiment, what Kogi State
need now that is sacrosanct is a man or woman with the competent,
capacity and character. But my reservation is who is this politician who
has been mentored in the life of Alhaji Idris that has been tested and
not failed the test of leadership.
Politics is capital intensive from the beginning to the end of the
process, it is important to employ the hands capable to fund
election weather he or she losses or win, the only uncommon
man you can find is the Jagadan of Sokoto, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris.
He is a worthy son of Igala Kingdom that is qualified to wear
the shoes of late Prince Abubakar Audu as the next political
leader of the Igala Kingdom and by extension Kogi State at
large.
The uncommon character of Alhaji Ibrahim Idris is worthy of emulation
for posterity, in retrospect if I want to enumerate the good deeds of the
formal Governor this write up will have no end, as a people lucky to
have a man endowed with wisdom, commitment, to human
development and fear of God, human weaknesses not withstanding he
can once more be trusted to mount the political leadership of the Igala
Kingdom, after the surgical analysis of the leadership of Kogi State, we
must take a deliberate step to follow and support people endowed with
wisdom to take us from this vicious circle of poverty and to avoid
unnecessary sentiment of who to provide leadership.
The formal Governor has shown leadership in all ramifications and must
be supported.
In view of the above, the Nigerian National Volunteer
Service/Diaspora Affairs, the umbrella body of all NGO’s in the
State pass a vote of confident and certificate of credence on
this living legend Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Idris the Jagadan of
Sokoto, in recognition of his uncommon outstanding leadership
role in Kogi State and beyond.
