TRIBUTE FROM OGORI DESCENDANTS UNION U-K AND DIASPORA.
~ DOCTOR AUGUSTINE OBARO.
Many people die every day, yet not all of them affirm for us the goodness in humanity and leadership the way Augustine did. He passed away on the 1st of January 2021 and left a legacy of positive experiences for anyone who took the time to know him.
Augustine Obaro was a general practitioner. Contrary to popular opinion, his career wasn’t one he chose because it paid big bucks; rather, he had a passion for serving the public. Dr Augustine Obaro loved people and was willing to do the hard work it takes to build all kinds of relationships. He intentionally built the kind of relationships in the communities he worked in that would bring people together and along. He was a man of many facets – Altruism, Leadership, Philanthropy, and Doctor are a few titles he earned through his life’s work. His passion and hard work led him to become a great leader and named the King and Ededaro.
Dr Obaro’s humility was the real power he had in the relationships he cultivated. Being humble helped him to be known as someone who acted ethically even while others in similar positions did not. His humanity extended to his family, friends, and anyone else who knew him. He was easy to know, an open book. We all thought we knew him, but now we know that we would have liked to have known him even better and had him stay around longer.
His pursuits connected communities through public trails and in the preservation of Dr’s Philanthropic side, was illuminated upon founding the yearly health care in his homeland Ogori; but not limited to the community only; he welcomed everyone from the neighbouring villages yearly and well equipped them with their individual needs. He donated from the heart without a need for fan-fare.
The ever-involved Doctor sat on many community boards including the Ogori Grand progressive initiative (OGPI Medical outreach), Vice President of ODU.UK & Diaspora, Coordinator for Healthcare Essentials of the disadvantage foundation (HCEDF), and founder of health outage in Ogori, to name few.
He excelled at everything he put his attention to. With a personal precept of, “Do the right thing, the right way, right now” we can see that he lived by his word.
The late Dr Obaro has in his short life fulfilled the purpose of his existence here on earth. We honour and cherish what you have done for the Ogorians and recognise your life stretching out in the hearts of our province, it is without further ado, that we bid you adieu.
