The Founder of Sustainable Goals Achievers Mr Isaac Adeleye, and student of University of Ilorin and his team on Friday, orientate and sensitized over 170 students of Omega College, Shao in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara.
Speaking with our correspondent, at the sidelines of the orientation, Adeleye who is a Student of Educational Technology of UNILORIN, said his team is using the opportunity to give back to the younger ones in secondary school by enlightening them on career choices and how to develop themselves.
He explained that Sustainable Goals Acheivers is a non-government and non- profit making organization with a global vision to promote and develop the Nigerian youths.
He explained that the organization implement community based rehabilitation and development of intervention targeting the children, teens, youth, adult, less privileged within the community.
“We organize community based- project, virtual programs, practical workshop, smyposium, seminar and conference which are geared with the sole aim of making the beneficiary useful to themselves, their family, the community and the nation at large,” he said.
Adeleye observed that despite the ongoing ASUU strike action had grounded their academic activities, nonetheless they decide to channel their lives positively to reach out to schools and impact the children positively.
“Youths are powerful change agents with enormous potential to bring about the positive changes in society.
“I’m advising other youths affected by the ASUU strike not to engage in vices but to channel this challenge positively and engage in something good and impact the society positively,” he said.
Also speaking, Mr Stephen Agboola, the Editor General and Creative Director of the NGO added that the program is tagged:”Catch Them Young”, aimed at solving choice of study in Universities and career problems for school children.
He noted that the orientation would help explore values, interests, and skills and help students find educational and career options that match up thier goals.
“We urge other youths affected by the Universities strike actions, to reach out to younger ones and make positive impact even if it on one person, ” he said.
In his reaction, Mr Ajayi Temidayo, the Principal of Omega College, Shao commended the students for impacting positively on the school children.
He marveled that despite report of some youths engagement in mischievious enterprises, there is still hope for Nigeria as others are engaging in positive ventures.
Temidayo believed that the orientation on the school children will help them in their choices in courses of study in the Universities and career later in life.
