VAPP BILL: Hon. (Barr.) Cosmas Atabor Assures CIP of Lawmakers Support
The lawmaker representing Igalamela/Odolu Constituency, Hon. (Barr.) Cosmas Ilemona Atabor has assured the Challenged Parenthood Initiative, a non-governmental organization, of the cooperation of lawmakers of the Kogi State House of Assembly towards ensuring “accelerated passage” of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) bill before the state House of Assembly.
The lawmaker made the statement during a one day Capacity Building Workshop for members of the Assembly organised by the Challenged Parenthood Initiative in Lokoja.
Hon (Barr.) Cosmas Atabor stressed the bill’s importance in ensuring that the people in the state are protected from violence of all kinds.
“The draft bill received accelerated hearing on the floor of the Assembly before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“A conducive date for an expanded public hearing and technical session with impute from constitutional lawyers and experts in the field will be communicated as soon as possible.
“I am sure the bill will receive accelerated passage,” he further stated.
