Primary school teachers paid a courtesy visit to the Transition Caretaker Chairperson, Hon. Rosemary Ohiezu, to discuss pressing issues affecting their schools and pupils. Mrs. Dupe Magaji Grace, the spokesperson for the teachers, expressed gratitude to Hon. Rosemary Ohiezu for her willingness to address their concerns. She highlighted the urgent need for deploying security personnel to protect the schools, mentioning that Uburu School, Aiyeromi School, and the LEA School have been left vulnerable despite the increasing incidences of kidnappings in the area.
Hon. Momohjimoh Balogun, the education secretary, also voiced his concerns, emphasizing the critical need for local government intervention to safeguard the schools from kidnappers. He pointed out that the lack of security and the deteriorating condition of the school facilities are driving parents to transfer their children to other schools. Balogun stressed that immediate refurbishment of the schools is necessary to retain students and ensure a safe learning environment.
In response, Rosemary Ohiezu promptly approved the deployment of security personnel to the affected schools through the office of the DSO. She reaffirmed her commitment to prioritizing the safety and well-being of her community. Hon.Rosemary Ohiezu assured the teachers that protecting the lives of the people is her foremost responsibility and promised to take swift action to address the security and infrastructural challenges facing the schools.
