IBAJI AGOG WITH JUBILATION AND APPRECIATION ON ODODO’S VICTORY AT TRIBUNAL

The people of Ibaji Local Government defied a heavy rain and the bad road to converge on Onyedega, the Local Government Headquarters, to express their joy over the victory of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo at the election petition tribunal recently.

The meeting which was convened by the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Ibaji, Hon Thankgod Omale in collaboration with stakeholders, had all principal political figures of Ibaji extraction in attendance.

Addressing the large gathering, the APC Chairman for Ibaji, Hon Thankgod Omale said the gathering was necessitated by the victory of the Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo; the first year in office of the Member representing Ibaji at the State Assembly, Hon Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba, who is also the Deputy Speaker of the House; and the appointments of Ibaji people into key positions by the state government.

The party Chairman enjoined the members to remain committed to the cause of the APC, assuring them that Ibaji would enjoy more dividends of democracy.

He expressed appreciation to the State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for appointing Ibaji people into his cabinet and appealed for more considerations.

The Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly and Member representing Ibaji Constituency, Rt Hon Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola, in an address, eulogized the quality leadership of Governor Ododo which manifested within his first 100 days in office.

She particularly appreciated the people of Ibaji Constituency for their unflinching support over the first year of her occupation of the position of Member of the House of Assembly. She used the opportunity to highlight some of her achievements which included her efforts at unifying the people; the revival of near comatose education in Ibaji; sponsoring of bills, especially the Kogi State Oil Commission Bill; support for the youths, women and the aged; and forging a process for the maintenance of peace in Ibaji.

The Deputy Speaker promised to do more for Ibaji, given the cooperation she had enjoyed from them.

Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon Timothy Ojoma, said he was enthused by the large turn out of the people, despite the rain. He assured them that the government of Kogi State under the leadership of Ahmed Usman Ododo would bring more dividends of democracy to the people.

The Transition Committee Chairman for Ibaji, Hon Emmanuel Ugeh, expressed joy that Ibaji was being remembered in the state. He pledged his loyalty to the government. He also directed that every member of staff of Ibaji Local Government should be at the Secretariat to work.

A candidate of the All Progressives Democratic Alliance, APDA, at the House of Representatives election for Idah Federal Constituency, Hon Mark Okpanachi Ogah, decamped into the APC along with hundreds of his supporters.

Speaking, Mark Ogah said he had realised the need to join the winning team instead of constituting opposition to a government that was already doing well. He was received by the party chairman along with other leaders.

Bassa Local Government Transition Committee Chairman, Hon Theophilus Adama who was a special guest at the event described Ibaji people as politically hospitable and objective. He urged them to support their leaders for more reward.
