The Honourable Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, has urged the potential winners in the local council elections in Kogi to bring dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
Prince Audu gave the advice on Saturday after casting his vote at his polling unit in Ogbonicha, Ofu Local Government Area in t
he Kogi State Local Government Council Elections.
The minister commended the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) for the peaceful conduct as well as the massive turnout of voters across the state.
He expressed optimistic of a landslide victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his ward, local government and the state at large.
Audu stressed that Ofu LGA hitherto, had been a stronghold of the party from the founding days of his father, Prince Abubakar Audu.
“I urge the winners of the elections to ensure the delivery of dividends of democracy to the people of the community who have entrusted them with their mandate.
“My advice to the winners is that democracy is about the people; government of the people, for the people, and by the people.
“We have to put the people at the forefront. If you are opportuned and lucky, as the chairman or councillor, you should spend your day and night thinking of how to deliver for them.
“There are lots of things that needed to be done and improved upon such as schools, livelihood support, healthcare, security architecture, and so on.
“So my advice is that they should do their job in a way that will be impactful to the people.
“I am here with my supporters, the people of Ogbonicha ward, in Ofu local government of Kogi State, which is historically an APC stronghold,” Prince Audu said
He commended KOSIEC for the timely release of electoral materials across the 21 local government areas of the state.
Audu stressed that the election had been free, fair, and credible, saying, “I am very hopeful that our party, the APC, will emerge victorious across all 21 local governments of the state.
