
The Senior Special Assistant to Kogi State Governor on Livelihood Mobilization
Hon. Maryam Usman Yahaya has appealed to His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, to assist Mrs. Mrs Deborah Oluwashola Aje, who lost all her property to fire incident that occurred last week Wednesday 8th of January 2025 in her residence, in Ogori, Ogori -Magongo LGA.Mrs Aje,is the wife of the Late Director of Okene Local Government Area(DLG),Sunday Aje.
Hon. Maryam made the appeal when she visited the victim of the fire incident in Ogori as part of the celebration of her own birthday,in the community.
According to the SSA,Mrs Aje lost all her property to the inferno leaving her in a devastated condition as nothing was left for her to keep life moving.
Hon Maryam who donated food items such as rice , garri , beans ,clothes , other consumables and money, still appealed to the Governor,who she described as a humane leader, to assist the widow who has nothing left for her after the unfortunate incident,noting that her house was completely raced down.Hajia,lamented that nothing could be saved from the house because the widow was not at home when the fire started adding that there is also no fire fighting equipment in the whole LGA.
She thanked the Chairman of SSAs,Kogi Central,Hon. A A Okene, on behalf of the victim,for the donation of the sum of twenty thousand naira (#20,000) to support Mrs Aje.Maryam,then called on NGOs and public spirited individuals to come to the aid of the widow who she described as helpless at the moment.She however,thanked God that no life was lost inspite of the magnitude of the inferno.
In her response,Mrs Aje, thanked the SSA for the visit and the support given to her. She then prayed to God to continue to sustain and direct her in the execution of her assigned duties.
Mrs Aje used the occasion to appeal to Philanthropists and well meaning individuals to come to her aid in this her trying time of grief.
