The Executive Chairman of Ajaokuta local government, Hon. Haruna Ogido Aliyu has charged members of the Nigerian Legion of Ex-Servicemen to support government at all levels with prayers and intelligent gathering for peace of the area and the country in general. Hon. Haruna Aliyu stated this in his address at the Year 2025 Armed forces Remembrance day celebration at council secretariat, Adogo. He assured the legion members in the area that his administration will continue to accord top priority to their welfare and commended them for their sacrifices to protect the sanctity of one Indivisible Nigeria.
The chairman used the occasion to pray for the Governor of the state, His Excellency, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo for the transformation of the state through people oriented policies and programmes. He reminded the legion members to continue to exhibit their patriotism and enthusiasm displayed during the Nigerian civil war to maintain and sustain peaceful co-existence in their various communities and areas. The Chairman praised the families of the departed heroes and heroines and appealed to the widows of the fallen heroes to remain steadfast in their family responsibilities for better living and society. He stated that the annual armed forces Remembrance day is to further cement our unity through reconciliation, rehabilitation and reconstruction for one Nigeria. The chairman was represented at the occasion by the Director of Personel Management, Mall. Sanni Otori Yakubu. Speaking, the chairman of the legion in Ajaokuta LGA, Corporal Emmanuel O. Irikiti (Retired) commended leaders of the state for their exemplary leadership for better kogi state. He rejoiced with the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of kogi state and council chairman, Hon. Haruna Ogido Aliyu as well as House of representatives member for Ajaokuta federal constituency, Hon.Sanni Egidi Abdulraheem. He paid growing tributes to two of the legion members that lost their lives last year and appealed to their families to bear the irreparable loss. Cpl. Emmanuel Irikiti appealed to the government at all levels to support widows and orphans due to present economic situation in the country. The chairman later laid wreath to commemorate the unknown soldier during the Nigeria trying period.
