The Kwara State Government has charged all private school owners operating crèches or accommodating pupils between the ages of 0-6 to comply with crèche registration procedures in order to enhance childcare standards, warning that it is mandatory to fulfill crèche registration requirements put in place by the Ministry of Social Development.

pppment, Hon. Dr. Mariam Nnafatima Imam, gave the charge during an inspection of private crèches in Offa and Ijagbo towns in the Kwara South Senatorial District.
Hon. Mariam urged all schools operating crèches in the State to expedite their registration processes with the Ministry of Social Development to avoid being sanctioned, including the risk of closure.
She emphasised that proper registration would ensure up-to-date data on crèches in the State and enhance government’s ability to monitor and support improved service delivery for children.
The Commissioner stated that the state government is in support of early childhood care, noting that it is essential that all facilities meet the required standards to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children.
Hon. Mariam called on operators who are yet to complete their registrations to do so promptly, to avoid any disruptions to their services, urging residents to support government’s effort by choosing registered crèches that adhere to the state’s guidelines thereby ensuring the best care for their little ones.
