
The Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Comfort Nwuchiola Egwaba led a seven-member peace committee set up by Ibaji elders and stakeholders, comprising traditional rulers, IDA Chairman, and IDA Youth President.The Deputy Speaker was also accompanied on the visits by a delegation of government officials, including Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Timothy Ojomah; Hon. Jackson Omaonu, SSA to the Executive Governor and other top government officials.
The Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Comfort Nwuchiola Egwaba condemned the violent clashes between Ayeke and Eñweli communities in Akpanyo ward, Ibaji Local Government Area, describing the incident as “shocking, mindless, and abominable.” She called for an immediate end to hostilities and urged both parties to seek a peaceful resolution.
During separate visits to the palaces of the kings of Ayeke and Eñweli on April 20, 2025, Rt. Hon. Egwaba emphasized that violence is senseless and unacceptable, stressing that development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of animosity. She assured the communities of the government’s commitment to restoring lasting peace and appealed to the people of Ayeke and Eñweli to forgive one another.
Rt Hon Egwaba also charged security agencies to ensure the safety of Lives and properties in the warring communities and Ibaji Local Government at large.
