The people of Mopamuro Local Government Area in Kogi State have come out in their numbers to stage a peaceful procession, calling on the Member Representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives to continue beyond 2027 in the Green Chambers, saying his representation has brought development to the grassroots.
The procession which started at Mopa took the APC leaders and members to Amuro, where they called on Elder Leke Abejide to defect to the All Progressives Congress without delay as the people of Mopamuro want him to continue his “beautiful representation” at the Green Chambers.
Addressing the people during the procession, an APC stalwart in the Local Government, Hon. Jones Daniel said Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide has done very well by attracting development to the Federal Constituency, saying the call on him to continue to represent Yagba in the House of Representatives beyond 2027 was informed by the desire to attract more democratic dividends to Yagba Federal Constituency.
Rep Leke Abejide is from Yagba East Local Government, a 2nd term member representing Mopamuro, Yagba West, and Yagba East in the Federal House of Representatives under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Recall that there was a rally in Mopamuro, tagged “Mopamuro Lokan” which simply means it is Mopamuro Local Government turn to contest for the HoR seat. Rep. Leke Abejide is from Yagba East Local Government.
It was gathered that the entire leaders of the APC in Mopamuro are in support of Rep. Leke Abejide, looking at the massive turn of the rally.
The political parties stakeholders and leaders who are present in the rally are Honorables Olasunmole Fatobi, Olu Asenwo, Jones Daniel, Monday Elere, Babatunde Moses (BABLO), Opeyemi James, Sunday Ishola (Taku), Wale Elekula, Ayodele Ige Solomon and Juilius Abel-Ontop, amongst others.
The Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), joining the leaders and stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), both Mopamuro Chapter chanting support for, calling Rep Leke Abejide’s to contest for 3rd term in House Representatives come 2027.
The leaders of the political parties in their separate remarks unanimously registered their full support for Rep. Leke Abejide, provided he will be contesting for 3rd term. Assuring of massive victory in Mopamuro and all over Yagba.
“We want a ranking Rep member in Yagbaland. We want to seize the opportunity to make Yagba relevant. We want an experienced legislator who will be able to use his influence to attract further development to Yagbaland. This is not a time to send a first timer to the House of Representatives”, he said.
Another speaker, Mr Sunday Ishola said 2027 offers the best opportunity for Yagba people to be recognized at the national level.
“It is not about ambition, but about the desire of our people for purposeful representation and for someone to draw the attention of the Federal Government to the infrastructural needs of Yagbaland. Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide is doing his best. But as a ranking Representative, he will do more”, he opined.
Also, Mr Oludipe Ansewo said Mopamuro APC members are calling on Hon. Abejide to defect to the party and continue his “journey of beautiful representation” in the party. He said the party is ready to welcome the representative in a big way.
“We want him in APC. We want to share in the pride of his excellent representation and we will ensure he continues to represent us beyond 2027”, he assured.
Mr. Babatunde Moses (Bablo) in his remarks, thanked the people of Mopamuro for their political consciousness, assuring them the longer Elder Leke Abejide stays in the Green Chambers, the better for the people of Yagbaland.
He carpeted those agitating for “untimely rotation” as selfish people who had sabotaged the interest of Mopamuro in the past.
The leaders said those leading rally and campaign for “Mopamuro Lokan” are the real saboteurs of Mopamuro political agenda, emphasizing that Mopamuro needs to deliver for Rep. Leke Abejide, in order to receive a better dividend from the “tested and trusted” Leke Abejide’s leadership.
Speaking onbehalf of youth and women, Miss Nike Ayo said they will mobilize and ensure complete victory for Leke Abejide come 2027 general election.
Recall again, that sometimes ago, there was a call on Rep Leke Abejide to officially join the APC. “Looking at this kind of rally, it seems he will be yielding the call at the right time and that everything is in God’s hands, says Chief Babatunde Moses (BABLO), he also added that long-term stay in the National Assembly will determine how much development can be attracted. And that Rep. Leke Abejide performed successfully in his first tenure, and even he is onging second tenure, he hasn’t disappointed, and as such he is worthy of 3rd tenure.
The speakers urged the people of the community to support Leke Abejide in order for them not to be left behind in the scheme of things, as he is a founding member of the APC, supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo.
They added that Leke Abejide is an influencial legislator and an APC stakeholder and that beyond sentiments, he is the ‘best bet’ for Yagba Federal Constituency come 2027 election if truly Yagba wants to invite ‘Federal Presence’ to the constituency.
They emphasized that Leke Abejide is only reaping the reward of his labour as he his been called to serve the people of Yagba for a 3rd term. Mentioning his achievements, they said Leke Abejide has delivered welfare, road infrastructures, health support programmes, youth empowerment, farmers, widows empowerment, students support, ICT facilities and academic empowerment among several undocumented individual help and support.
Other members of the APC and ADC who were present in the rally are Honorables Jide James, Opeyemi James, Bidemi Ologe, Martha Abejide, Ernest Mayowa, Temidayo Samuel, Segun Arogbonlo amongst others.
The Presence of the Leader of APC in Mopamuro, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo was duly felt despite his absence, and Hon. Babatunde Samuel (Esanuaje) representation was duly felt.
