SPEECH AT THE GOVERNOR ODODO COMMUNITY SECURITY AND AWARENESS ENGAGEMENT
Delivered by Rt Hon. Ahmed Mohamed, Zonal Security Adviser to the Executive Governor of Kogi State (Ankpa Federal Axis)

Protocol Observed.

Distinguished guests, community leaders, security stakeholders, members of the press, and our beloved citizens of Omala and its environs,

It is with great honor and a deep sense of responsibility that I welcome you all to this vital Community Security and Public Awareness Engagement—an initiative inspired and fully supported by the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.

As we gather here today, let us remember that the strength of our communities lies not just in the number of security personnel we deploy, but in the quality of the trust, unity, and collaboration we build among ourselves. That is the very spirit behind this engagement.

Governor Ododo, in his Renewed Hope mandate, has remained steadfast in his commitment to securing every inch of Kogi State—rural or urban, remote or central. This engagement is a clear demonstration of his inclusive security vision, where every citizen is not just protected, but empowered to be a protector of their environment.

We recognize the unique security challenges facing the Ankpa Federal Axis, from youth restiveness to isolated criminal activities. But we are also aware of the immense potential of this region—its culture of resilience, solidarity, and community vigilance. This program seeks to harness that potential.

Today, we will discuss:

Practical ways communities can collaborate with security agencies;

The importance of early warning systems and intelligence sharing;

How to identify and report suspicious activity without fear;

And most importantly, how to build a culture of peace, tolerance, and mutual support.

We are not here to lecture you. We are here to listen, engage, and co-create solutions that will make our communities safer. The Governor believes that security is not just a government responsibility—it is a shared duty.

I commend the efforts of our traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth organizations, and women’s groups who have stood as the first line of defense in our communities. You are the unsung heroes of our local security architecture.

As we proceed, let us remember: security is not a seasonal concern. It is a daily commitment. Together, with one voice and one purpose, we can protect our homes, our streets, our future.

In conclusion, let me reaffirm the unwavering commitment of His Excellency, Governor Ododo, to building a safe, secure, and prosperous Kogi State—a state where no community is left behind.

Thank you for your attention, and may peace continue to reign in Ankpa and across Kogi State.

God bless you all.
God bless Kogi State.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
